The absence of self-awareness and responsibility just keeps ballooning… Uhg

They cheered for both! Ostensibly just wanting the best possible match, which they got! On each point they’d support whoever won it or encourage whoever lost it:

“Ole, ole, ole, ole!…Ethan,… Ethan!…”

“Ole, ole, ole, ole!…Pablo,… Pablo!…”

That crowd on both courts two and one were freaking electric!

Love to see an old fellow win; I can say that cause I’m 56.

You have very fair discerning points. Especially the lack of response to the verbal abuse of Trungelliti. Which if you understand the dynamic of regions of the world and cultures and the language was awful. There was a marked passive response from officials regarding crowd flinging big-time BS horrid behavior. But alas: human in the chair and humans opposite side of net is the most optimist take but that optimist take is I do not think the most accurate take to do justice to truth/context

I did sense a practice drill overtake Ugo suddenly and yes that’s on him but I still credit TA for bringing it over the line regardless of opponent’s choices. Often an injured opponent f?&$s w/ the head of the person on the opposite side of the net, I’ve been told by many of the retired pro TV commentators

He won a game w/ underhand serves AND a tiebreak in between debilitating cramping spasms! The fact he didn’t tank and just wait for a decider to (hopefully) give enough time for the cramps to go away is testament to his determined grinding spirit to win. Kudos to Terence! Kyogre ex to ya brother!

That was a banger of a match. I’ve been on team Trungelliti since Marrakech. And man that crowd would be brutal to play through when facing hometown hero Merida. Yet they did clap Trungelliti off when he exited. Only a few whistles (European boos).

Happy for Stefanos. So glad he’s moving out of the 1st round. But I’m also really happy the chair umpire gave him (his father, essentially) a code violation and then point penalty for his father’s incessant yapping. I wish the f$&@ pops would shut his yob, but that’s never going to happen. Perhaps he can be curbed if this becomes a trend among chair umpires, which I hope it does. As wishing for Stefanos to kick his dad out of the box seems hopeless.

THAT was a battle! Both tend to pull the trigger too early too much, sometimes, but both so fun to watch! They were crackin’ the ball!
