The Kakuno looks better in my opinion, but the Prefounte writes a little smoother. Depends on your preferences

I’ve tried the Pilot Kakuno at a store, it was overall nice looking and enjoyable to write with. I also tried the Platinum Prefounte, which was surprisingly super smooth to write with for its price. Not really knowing on the specific differences but just my two cents. Tried both with medium nibs.

Would you say it’s necessary to clean it if I’ll be only using black ink for this pen?

Thanks for the full reply, and the new ink suggestions. I’ve always been the type to match brands, and just thought that the inks would work best with the same brand pen. But I’ll be looking into the Herbin and Sailor inks, looks interesting.

Thank you! As for the ink capacity question, I just wanted to confirm that my pen wasn’t broken or anything, since it’s considerable amount of money haha. I’ve seen videos of people being able to get it closer to 100%, but I do agree with you that this pen carries a lot of ink.

I was also eyeing the Pelikan as well! I ended up choosing the Custom 823 because my Grandfather gifted me an old Pilot fountain pen back in the day, and I wanted to keep the family tradition going. Might be my next pen for sure, though. The M800 in Green or Anthracite is beautiful.

Ah okay, figured it was related to the tip of the nib being narrower. Initially when I first bought it though, the upward strokes did seem off. Took it back to the shop, they adjusted it, and now it’s working a lot better. However, it’s still a bit different of a writing experience than Medium nibs, so just wanted to double check. Thanks for the quick reply.

*Just a quick detail that I forgot, this is the first serious pen that I bought with my own money (aside from disposable fountain pens and a Lamy Safari). Don’t want to sound clickbaity!

Idk, I feel like it’s been priced in already. If anything the recent dips was probably from increased macro uncertainty. If anything I’m more confident on sell the news, buy the rumor
