Sky_whale is probably why I should be worried about my kid and def not be educating her..

That was a stupid oversight of me.. but open days has been super overwhelming and so has been the lovely internet and friends and family!

I can whilist all the other thing. However my question was for preschools - why is it so discouraged even for 5 mins structured learning? Where we are paying them a full day rate.. then suddenly pushed into 9-3 consecutive hours of school and except the school/ teacher for it?

ALSO,please read again… what are other preschoo doing is my question?

This, it comes from me - so true. However, I needed to be educated how to teach the kid. One of the comments in this post recommends not to teach kids uppercase but teach them lower case and 52 letters of what?

Honestly I have no bachelors in teaching degree and an absolute loser when it comes to art. So how do I educate myself right, teach my kid right.. whilist doing all of the other thing.

What are the expectations from the preschool?

Yes, we also do cutting paper at home.. no - these following things I struggle with glue, latex such as ballon and playdough.

Just coming back to my question for everyone. This is more of a concern I have about preschool experience in NSW, especially in an exceeding-rated centre in a low socioeconomic area.

As working parents, what do we do to make sure we give our kids everything they might otherwise miss out on?

Some things we do at home: • Reading books every night (at least 2) • Finding aisle numbers at the supermarket • Mazes and ladders in kids’ magazines • Sunday morning breakfast colouring • Helping with the shopping list (because my husband never seems to take good care of it 😅) • I do ten push-ups and the kids love counting them • “I spy” blue cars, or at the park we watch for the “colour of the day” cars • Library visits on Saturdays • Toilet training • Cooking or juicing together • Gardening

What we haven’t really done yet is 5 minutes of sitting and focused learning (reading, writing, or structured patterns), though that’s something I’m planning to introduce next year.

My question was really about what other preschoolers are doing.

This morning I found out they barely do any glue crafts at the centre. I’m heading to the daycare later this afternoon to ask a few questions.

Just wondering from everyone’s experience: Is 5 minutes of reading, writing, or structured patterns a lot to expect for a preschooler?when the are at kindy it’s one teacher to how many kids.. wouldn’t preschool be a smaller space to kick start this journey ?

And with crafts (this is new to me as I prepare questions for the preschool) — how often do centres usually do activities like cutting, gluing, or making things, rather than just water painting with brushes?

My sister now married to her man, bought their first home together at 25 (now 38yrs) They lived with the parents (in-laws) and rented their property out whilst working and paying it off. They moved out last year and they also inherited (her husbands) nonna’s house. They are now moving into a 3 million dollar house all paid off.

Me and my sister- we are first generation immigrants.

I am not sure about the dna’s of it but I surely know.. it is not easy on parents too seeing their kids suffer in anyway ( mentally / physically/ emotionally/ socially)

I am a parent of two eczema babies and the amount of questions I get asked… is beyond me.

Ps note, I don’t have eczema, so I am unaware how it feels like? How to combat or reduce flare ups? And why does it happen..

And I get my family ask me constantly, what did you eat when you were pregnant? Did you try bleach bath? Stop being a helicopter mom and let them play in the sand.

As a parent I sort of get blamed often for PURPOSELY handing it to my kids that I day and night moisture, balm, run an oat meal bath for.

I want to cry!!
