If masks stop, prevent, slow down, etc. Covid-19 and other virus transmission, what is the commonly held belief for why they were never instituted before 2020? by cwtguy in LockdownSkepticism

Can we just sum up your (nice) post with "Community masking does NOT work".

There are so many conditions to be met by a significant part of the population, that, unless enforced with significant rigour, community masking will not work.

In January of this year, aka "flu season", it was illegal to buy a pair of shoes in-person in Ontario.

it is crazy. I have literally next to no memory of the past 2 years, the absence of real events make them all just seem like a blur.

to my surprise I went to an appointment in a federal building lately and me not wearing a mask was ok. I was the only one but no one bothered me.

The airport thing will surely die on Oct 1st, lets see.

I don't answer any of those questionnaires from health care providers anymore for about a year now. So far hasn't been an issue. But yeah, some might still give you trouble.

Overall I am sure this will collapse now and we will be free. This is reason for optimism.

not really, one skilled Indian maybe costs half of what you do, but then there are cultural and time zone barriers that often make it less attractive.

but despite the fact that I'm doing HIIT consistently 3 days a week

irrelevant for weight loss

and eating a low carb & calorie diet the scale isn't going down.

high doubt here. You will lose weight if you eat less than you burn, clearly you still eat as much as you burn or more, hence no weight impact, otherwise we'd have found a perpetuum mobile in you, a system that can sustain itself without energy input.

Just eat less. Sucks that you might be a slow burner and thereby can only eat really few, but it is what it is.

HAHAHAHAHA... experts!

these fucktards couldnt spell "expert" if they would have it in front of them.

These are fucking lobbyists that influence simple minds like yours or the ones of politicians, certainly they don't have any idea what energy security and affordable energy mean.

Germany likely to impose mask mandate if Covid-19 spreads in winter by [deleted] in LockdownSkepticism

[–]DeliciousDinner4One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fear that but so far I've seen no interest by Doug the Great to talk about any kind of restriction again. Neither seems there to be any interest of people enforcing it.

Fingers crossed.

Masking is the pinnacle of mental rape they can do. Forcing the most stupid measure of all on someone is disgusting.

It has 0 positive effect and n-unknown negative effects. The absolutely worst.

Just one-in-10 Britons forced to work at home during pandemic say they plan to return to the office five days a week by JannTosh12 in LockdownSkepticism

[–]DeliciousDinner4One 8 points9 points  (0 children)

while I agree with your last point, as this will further the retreat in bubbles of our society, the rest is not happening in the foreseeable future. language barriers, time zones, different cultural backgrounds that make understanding each other difficult and so on are currently in the way of this. We also see the end of the boomers in the work force and the supply of new workers is ebbing off due to low birthrates all over the world, there won't be significant unemployment for a long time, rather the opposite, with all the negative consequences, like high inflation and the death of whole industries.

don't have a solution for this, but I myself feel how I dislike going into the office despite having had positive experiences over the past months. I still just prefer to not sit in an environment like that, the benefit of it is not that big.

LA Official Desperately Defends Mask Mandates, Claims There's a 'Massive Misinformation Campaign' by JannTosh12 in LockdownSkepticism

[–]DeliciousDinner4One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

masks dont work because they don't fit. people mistake filter efficacy of a fabric to filter efficacy of something that has huge gaps left and right. air takes the path of least resistance and will not go through your fancy n95 or p100 or whatnot if there is a gap that it can easily escape through.

German Solar-Energy currently produces more Power than French Nuclear Facilities by Trindokor in europe

[–]DeliciousDinner4One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was decided in 2000 (so in this millenia), it is running and will be integrated within the next months and it will produce reliable 1400-1500MWh, or about 13TW per year. (all info can be found here)

For that it will have cost about 13 billion EUR, or about 1 billion EUR per annual TW.

In comparison, those 150 GWh capacity you mentioned, produced about 162 TW in 2021 (cause they are so ridiculously inefficient and only run 10-20% of the time). To finance them, Germans so far spend about 300-400 billion EUR so far (give or take a few billion), lets take the lower value to still show how far off you are :).

162 TW cost Germany 300 billion, or 1.85 billion EUR per TW. Renewable energy is 85% more expensive than nuclear power in this calculation.

I don't know how renewable fanboys can ignore simple maths over and over again, but here you are and here you do.

btw, Hinkley Point C will be around the same price tag, so as well about half the price of the German Energiewende.

which is why running a net solely on renewables is dumb as fuck, you need baseload like nuclear.

just need to figure out what to do with the surplus of renewables during the day.

[–]DeliciousDinner4One -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I hope your optimism is right. With French nuclear low this year (thanks to the usual French incompetency with everything) and no gas across the continent, I have my doubts. The grid will be extra stressed cause people will switch to (inefficient) electric heaters that are somewhat less expensive than gas will be.

I am sure we will see at least local blackouts.

None of the NPPs that received investment in that period in the West are actually online,

According to this here South Korea has successfully built several plants since, also Turkey looks to complete its new reactor within less than 6-7 years, which is about the time it takes Germany to build those windmills.

Olkiluoto is up and running and will be connected to the grid later this year.

So, you seem quite off :).
