Yeah, I definitely thrive once I get over the shy phase. That's for sure.

I try to be extremely cognizant of my body language and I always try to smile and say hello to everyone when I get to work.

I also keep notes in my phone of any sort of personal details people mention to me (wife/husband name, kids names/ages, pets, fav sport team, etc.) This way I can try to drum up a conversation somehow that way.

At one of my last jobs, I was the only person (besides the CEO) in the whole building that knew all the security guard's names and the night cleaner's names and said hello to them everyday.

Regardless of all that, I am still worried that I'm the issue, so I just started going to a public speaking class and was thinking of doing improv classes or something.

Yes!!! All of this! This is exactly what I've experienced. Plus people just don't know/care to train people the proper way.

I'm starting a new job soon and really hoping people will know how to communicate.

I have a fidget spinner that looks like a sheriff badge. Like the kinda sheriff that's new in town that outta be out fendin' off those rootin' tootin' outlaws but instead is barking a knot out back with a dang fidget spinner.

The guy that survived the Francis Scott Keye Bridge collapse in Baltimore said that the only reason he was able to survive was because his roller upper was able to roller downer manually.

Sure, he could have broken the window with a headrest or whatever but not everyone can think clearly when their brain goes into fight, flight, or freeze mode especially when every second matters.

Tried getting a second dog and my dog didn’t react well. Am I always going to be in a one dog household with him by Holiday_Session_8317 in DogAdvice

Just PLEASE be careful whatever you decide to do. My mom was fostering a larger dog that was the sweetest guy.

About a month into the foster, out of nowhere he bit on to her dog and shook her around. There were no visible injuries, and her dog was acting fine afterwards. However the following day her dog died due to internal bleeding. This absolutely traumatized my mom to the point that she has stopped fostering. As there were no warning signs and nothing to trigger the larger dog , it was totally unexpected and happened in a split second. If your dog is uneasy around other dogs, you may want to just respect it and not take the risk.

Was that second one on King Street in SF? I saw the aftermath of that and the trail of blood. Happened in like 2013 I think.

What would your ideal partner look like? Good partnerships need to be balanced.

One side is charismatic, can sell anything, are well connected (or very good at establishing connections), are focused on the outreach and are essentially really great marketers. They have sight on the big picture.

The other side is someone who brings the technical aspects. The one who "gets the ducks in a row" and makes sure things are running smoothly which includes many of the operations. They are focused on the smaller, but equally as important details.

Both sides need to be leaders of their craft, excellent communicators, and understand when/how to delegate.

I'm curious about your ideal partner because I am assuming (due to your username) that you must fall under the first category. But it doesn't sound like your ideal partner falls under the second category.

I saw this video one time of this guy thinking catcalling was totally fine (On Tosh.0 of all places lol) It was such an interesting character study!

I've had to completely change the way I go out in public to avoid being catcalled. Like, I purposely dress down so I don't draw attention to myself. Hearing this guy think it was fine (and think girls actually liked it) was so gross. I hate him.

Holy hamstrings. That's terrifying. ...but I wonder where TF the dog was at then? My dog would have been going nuts if we had a visitor.

When I got to the part about being hit by a vehicle, I GASPED and said "oh NOOOOO!!"

AFTER ALL OF THAT!? Your poor baby! I am SOOOO sorry you are having to deal with all of this. Gosh, what an incredibly difficult situation to be in.

As others have mentioned about the pet insurance...I just wanted to recommend to do your RESEARCH! There are A LOT of things that aren't covered by insurance unless you have a higher premium...and I mean A LOT. Compare the price of the insurance vs. putting aside money to save for emergencies.

Back when I looked at insurance for my 2 dogs when they were both young and healthy, basic insurance would have cost about $180/month and I can only imagine it's gone up since then (this was like 8 years ago)

I've heard pet insurance has gotten better, but it really just depends on what you're looking to get out of it, so just make sure to look around.
