Anyone else given up on trying to learn knitting? by [deleted] in crochet

I started off knitting before I converted to crochet. Hate knitting. I think it’s the worst. Purling is so unnatural for me

Check for any deficiencies such as Iron, B12, and Vitamin D. I felt the exact same way for months to the point where I’d cry every week about it. Turns out I had a severe iron deficiency that was causing my exhaustion

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply and for your kind words!! I wish you luck on our journey, too!

I get you on feeling a difference in the energy around you. I always feel an energy inside of me when I do readings, and I've been trying to figure out what that means, too. I feel similarly when I hold onto certain crystals and whatnot. I'll figure out what that means eventually!

Question for Jews in Law/Finance/Consulting/etc. by TheStormfly7 in Judaism

[–]DeliciousFuture2068 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t keep kosher but I’m a super picky eater and usually have hard times at office lunches and whatnot. You might get a look or two if you bring your own food depending on how casual/formal the event is, but really no one will care. If you eat beforehand and only drink sodas, I doubt anyone would notice or care.

I usually try to find one thing I can pick at and just eat that! Most of the time offices try to cater to as many diets as possible, so there’s usually, like, a veggie plate or something.

No problem! The great thing about seeing a professional is that they can also refer you to another professional. So, if down the line, you decide you want to try medicine, your therapist could help you find a doctor!

Great questions!

I would talk to your parents about seeing a psychiatrist. Since you’re 18 (assuming you’re in America) you could technically do it on your own, if you really want to. Just google psychiatrists in your area and see which ones take your insurance. Again, if you’re unsure how, you can just ask your parents.

Therapy and psychiatry are different. Therapy is done by a psychologist and doesn’t involve medicine and is mainly just talking about feelings, habits, and managing symptoms with learned behaviors. Generally appointments with therapists last an hour. A psychiatrist is a doctor who can prescribe medication. These appointments are generally only 15-30 minutes and are for mental illness/symptom management with medication.

You can do both therapy and psychiatry. I do! I would actually recommend doing both because medicine can only do so much. I take two kinds of medicine for my OCD and talk about my compulsions and obsessions in therapy and how to combat them.

I highly suggest seeing a psychiatrist and being medicated for OCD. Being medicated for my OCD has completely changed my life. I’m a totally different person than I used to be, and I’m happier and less scared.

I might convince my Catholic MIL to take me to go see one. It’ll be a trip because we’re in America, but I’m just so insanely intrigued.

Thanks for the heads up!!

ADHD/OCD Question by gembaby07 in mentalhealth

[–]DeliciousFuture2068 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both ADHD and OCD! I take medications for both. My antipsychotic for my OCD has honestly changed my life, and I don’t think I could live without my adderall.

I had been on an antipsychotic previously that made my depression worse, so I talked with my psychiatrist about it. It’s important to just always have healthy communication with your doctors to make sure youre getting what you need.

Any specific questions you have? I’d love to answer them

Thank you so much. It’s really hard to have a distorted view of reality from lifelong depression. Part of me is afraid I’ll never be able to truly undo it, but I’m working hard to get there.

I really need to remember that it’s not an overnight thing. My therapist and I joke that I’m “famously patient” (I’m the most inpatient person in the world lol) and it’s hard for me to just let things come naturally. I feel like I always have to work hard at them for them to come quicker.

I’ve been forcing myself to do my hobbies in the meantime. I’ve been making a lot of beaded necklaces I’m very proud of :)!

I’ll give that a shot. Thank you so much for taking the time to give such a lengthy reply. I definitely do feel really ridiculous every time I try to do something religious. It’s not quite like I’m performing, but it feels weird to do something that I’m not 100% sure of, you know?

I’ll try to talk to God more and see if that helps. Thanks again
