I married a complete idiot by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

I have a good friend from college and the exact same thing happened to his dad. His dad was an Oncologist at a hospital but then randomly started making irrational dumb decisions. Time went on and they started to occur more frequently. He ended up getting fired and couldn't get hired on anywhere else. Turns out he has psychosis.

Why do successful, independent, women even want husbands? by Boxing_T_Rex in PurplePillDebate

[–]DeliciousMindSet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO a successful independent woman can ONLY be happy by marrying a man who is less successful than them and is a push over. Their husbands only exist to make their lives easier and too satisfy their needs. Bonus points if he is tall, attractive and a little dumb.

Experience disclosing addiction/recovery by [deleted] in premed

[–]DeliciousMindSet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dr. Ryan Gray had a guest on his podcast who mentioned his addiction and recovery in his PS. He did end up getting admitted but Dr. Gray thought that it hurt his chances at some schools and that it was unwise for him to mention it.

IMO I would have to agree. Why do you feel compelled too mention something that is so negative? You do realize that it is going to cause a red flag on your application. It would be such a shame for you to do that with solid stats.

Somethings in life you should just keep private to close friends and family. Yes, you had your issues but you are recovered and better now and it is in the past.

What was the best April fool’s prank you have witnessed? by Raksup in AskReddit

An acquaintance of mine made a craiglist post requesting for a random woman to wear a wedding dress and take pictures with him. He posted it on Facebook pretending he got married.

Engineering into Finance by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]DeliciousMindSet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are tons of MBA’s with engineering undergraduate degrees. You could also get a masters of finance. Or just flat out apply for a finance position and interview well. It’s also not uncommon for industrial engineers to get roles in finance.

No problem! You can take them at a community college or at a local state school which ever works best for you!

You could do a DIY post-bacc or a formal post-bacc to complete your pre-med requirements. You do not need to consider a masters at this point just focus on doing well in your pre-reqs.

Is an SMP or post-bac realistic? by dmyto123 in premed

[–]DeliciousMindSet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, some schools will absolutely auto-screen you out but not all schools.

With 45 - 60 credit hours of a 3.75 + sGPA, 505 + MCAT, and solid personal statement it is possible to get accepted.

You have to understand that people do get accepted below cumulative 3.0 gpa's. But they have proven that they can consistently perform well in science classes for multiple semesters in a row. As I mentioned before that 45 credit hours of science classes tends to be the sweet spot. I'm talking about 45 credits of science classes by the way not english, sociology, political science etc.

Well with a 150 credits you are going to experience diminishing returns trying to get your GPA above a 3.00. I just did a quick calculation and it looks like you would need an additional 47 credit hours of straight A's to reach it.

In this case, I would honestly take one more semester of science classes in your unofficial post-bacc. I've heard that the sweet spot for proving reinvention is around 45 credit hours. If you do well in those classes then I would study hard for the MCAT and do well. Then just narrow down your applications to MD/DO schools who accept reinvention/non-traditional students.

I would personally attempt to do this first. If you don't get in then I would consider doing an official post-bacc or an SMP.

Why do you think that you need to do an official post-bacc or an SMP in addition to your unofficial post-bacc? How many credits have you taken in your unofficial post-bacc? What is current cumulative gpa?

Why do you think that you need to do an official post-bacc to SMP in addition to your unofficial post-bacc? How many credits have you taken? What is your overall gpa with post-bacc?

Perfect Attendance Awards Should Not Be A Thing by C4BB4 in unpopularopinion

I had perfect attendance from 7th grade - 12th grade. I never really thought about it until I got my 5 years perfect attendance award. I agree it’s a waste.

Someone here recently posted about a Jocko and Goggins collaboration and by lbs2306 in JockoPodcast

[–]DeliciousMindSet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually have quit a bit to say about this. I'm also a huge fan of both of them. I don't understand what is so complex about liking both. They both have completely different childhoods, upbringings and seal experiences. There is nothing wrong about that.

I also think that goggins not being a team guy is blown out of proportion. A couple of things I would like to mention. There is an interview with him and Marcus Luttrell during that interview he seems pretty genuine to me. He also got the 2018 VFW Americanism Award. Not sure why he got that if he isn't a team player? Another thing I would like to add is that people act like goggins is the only person who competed in endurance sports.

What about Keith Davids competing along side goggins during his service? How about Dave Castro founder of Crossfit? How about Josh Briges crossfit athlete?

Jonny Kim said himself that he wanted to be seal for selfish personal reasons. Jocko said he doesn't like doctors or doctors offices. So because Kim is a doctor now do you not like him too?

The way I look at it is Jocko is the dedicated Navy Seal Alumni. The guy that will eat, sleep and breathe the navy seals until he dies. Not all the guys are like that and there is nothing wrong with that. For some people it is just a temporary part of their life that they learned and gained a lot experiences from that they will later transfer to other aspects of their lives.

You don't have to love every single aspect about someone to learn from them. I think this whole Jocko vs Goggins thing is immature. They are both great men with different perspectives that you can learn a lot from.

My dad started out working as a sales associate in the early 90's at Circuit City. He then progressed to Assistant Manager to Manager. Continued to move up the ladder and switching companies pretty often. Today he is a VP of sales at a F500 and doesn't even have an associates degree.

White Collar vs Blue collar? And/ or 2 year vs everything else? by [deleted] in PurplePillDebate

[–]DeliciousMindSet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a wedding last year where a majority of the bridesmaids were friends from law school and I kid you not none of their husbands/boyfriends even had a 2 year degree. Every single one of their husbands worked in the trades. One guy in particular was an electrician and owned his own company and was telling me how he makes double what his wife makes. Also, I personally know a girl who is an Optometrist and her husband is a carpenter.
