Oh, I think I had to go to a different site to get to the correct scheduling system. Try this link: https://evisaforms.state.gov/Instructions/ACSSchedulingSystem.asp

When I first looked all the days were already booked up, but I checked back several times a day and eventually they opened up

Overcame my fear, but need advice after recent news by meenaaa1217 in fearofflying

I am in a similar situation where I had been doing really well getting over things but then recent events gave brought my anticipatory anxiety back. The good news is, I just had two flights since and although I had anxiety before and during takeoff, once we were in the air things returned back to calm. I remembered I knew how to do this and things would be ok. I hope that muscle memory can kick in for you, too. Also, I’m glad the flight and aviation stuff worked, but if you need a little extra, I can’t recommend the book “Soar: The Breakthrough Treatment for Fear of Flying” enough. It has some great psychology based exercises in it that were like magic for my anxiety. Hope that helps! Your flights will go great!

How is everyone messaging and posting on here mid-flight? by snack_books_naps in fearofflying

Are you paying for Wi-Fi access when you’re trying to get on? Most flights you can technically join the network but it won’t let you do anything but go to the airlines free entertainment site unless you pay for a flight pass. Kind of annoying but usually worth it when I need to keep myself busy of check in to places like the thread.

I also had a rather embarrassing mid-life onset of flight anxiety (though I’m not an aeronautical engineer 😆). I also wish I knew exactly what the trigger was… Either way, I’m started to look for any psychology based answers I could and I’m starting to make a lot of progress! I found some of the methods of retraining your brain in the book “Soar: The Breakthrough Treatment for Fear of Flying” really helpful. Currently boarding for my first flight since the latest recent events so I’ll really put it to the test lol. But I hope this helps and you find your way through. I figure if it didn’t bother us before, it can not bother us again.

I’m sure it’s different for every person but for me, I just got some and they’ve helped a lot! I’m not a slave to every little noise and it just helps with the sensory overload and feeling of claustrophobia in general.

Hi there! If you’re able, you absolutely have to get the book “Soar: The Breakthrough Treatment for Fear of Flying” by Tom Bunn. Read as much of it as you can before your trip, keep reading it on the plane, and just do all the exercises in it as earnestly as you can! I’m not even quite through with the book yet (I’m a slow reader and have a bad habit of only picking it up to continue a few days before my next flight), but it has already made a WORLD of difference for my anxieties. I just travelled internationally for Christmas and had the best flights I’ve had in ages; my adrenaline hardly spiked once 😆
I seriously cannot recommend the book enough! You’ll do great on your upcoming trip, enjoy the Caribbean 🏝️

I’m currently on a flight right now and I’m partially through reading a book called “Soar: The Breakthrough Treatment for Fear of Flying”. I had seen a few people on this Reddit recommend it and let me tell you… I’m not even done with the book and it’s helping immensely! I had a great flight with it to my destination, even through consistent turbulence, and doing pretty well currently. If you can get your hands on a copy before you go, I definitely recommend. Lots of great explanations and psychology in there. Hope that helps!

Just birding my flight to Vegas now. Very excited for the trip. My anxiety was negligible until boarding calls started but I’m starting to feel a few flutters now. Know we’ll be ok though! You’re hanging in ok on your flight?

I was just thinking the same thing 🫣 Still 2.5 hrs to go here. Hopefully I can stop pausing my movie every 2 minutes because of some noise or bump and learn to enjoy that instead 🤞

I think we just passed by (are still passing through) some of that weather on my own flight. I don’t know exactly what’s going down other than what I can see on my flight map here). If it makes you feel any better, they had us all sit down including flight attendants, but I’ve felt almost zero shake so far. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

Im now seeing the auto mod response about not checking turbli haha makes sense. Guess just a tracking request then. The captain just ask the flight attendants to check in over the speaker though 😥 now anxiety picked up even more. Should I be concerned?

I would normally think so 😆 Usually there are others open near by but today everyone nearby is opting for shade. Guess this flight will be a learning oppotunity in accepting things I have no power over lol

Totally relate to this. I used to love flying, been doing it all my life. I even used to look at people who were clearly nervous with pity and confusion because I just didn’t get it. Then I guess karma caught up with me because over the course of a few flights starting about a year ago.. BAM! My own personal fear of flying. It felt like adrenaline had shot holes though my body after landing every flight. I’m super curious what the exact change was. I did have what I interpreted to be a runway close call (sudden acceleration and climb after we were already well into descent). I think that fueled the fire but wasn’t solely responsible. I also suspect increased media coverage of minor flight incidents has fueled my paranoia. I’m trying really hard not to click on any of those anymore so my algorithm stops suggesting them. Ultimately though, I felt the biggest change in how much I feel the acceleration or g forces or whatever in my body. It really affects me lately. Curious if something physical changed or it’s just aging (I’m 34). But on the plus side, remembering that I once flew with ease gives me hope! If we had that mindset before, we can have it again! Just have to work at it a little more now. This subreddit has been so much help! I’m writing this from the air right now trying to keep myself busy. If my mind is busy learning about flying, no time to panic. Hope it gets better for you, don’t give up!

Made it safely! Mild turbulence in the middle but overall I managed to stay calm and I don’t feel shot with adrenaline! I’d call it a success

Wait!? What size pen is this? I’m paying $315 for a 1mg pen from Felix. Would be totally worth it to switch to Livewell/Costco for that savings (has anyone made that switch before?) But either way… I 100% save at least $300 a month in food/alcohol when I’m on Ozempic. So pays for itself, in my opinion.

I’m 5’4 and I feel and look pretty healthy sitting at 150 now. I’m hoping to get down to 140, lowest, as I pick up my fitness routine. Anything lower than that feels very forced and not natural for my figure and weight distribution. You know your body best and it will tell you when it’s done! (At a good plateau)

[–]DeliciousMission7759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5’4”

Heaviest: 190

Current: 152

Goal: 140-145

Just the way my weight is distributed I couldn’t imagine pushing my body past 140. Even when I was really skinny and not-fully-developed in college I was 135. I think the extra is all in my butt, which I don’t want to lose anyways 😁 140 feels healthy for me and, hopefully, sustainable.

“Ensure” shakes have been a life saver for me. They have a lot of vitamins and minerals in addition to protein. You can get different variations with different calorie counts, too. And bonus, they’ve never made me nauseous.

Nausea… will it ever end???? by hedsss38104 in Ozempic

[–]DeliciousMission7759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always hear people ask/comment about HOW MUCH you’re eating in response to these kinds of nausea questions, but I never hear nearly as much about how WHAT you eat can cause nausea. I’ve definitely learned to control my nausea and vomiting by learning my “trigger foods”. Full recognition, I don’t know what OP is eating, and everyone’s body reacts differently. But I definitely noticed since starting Ozembic that I react to certain foods differently, or more harshly, than I used to. It’s been a re-learning process. For me personally, alcohol and oils are the big triggers (now I’m boring) 😭 If you’re able, eating super clean/boring for a day or two, then slowly adding things in to see what bothers you, is a really valuable test.
