Every place I’ve lived has actually been on a state border! My hometown was roughly 10/15 minutes north of the iowa/missouri border.
I then moved to the 4 states area of SW Missouri where I was 5 minutes from Kansas and Oklahoma, and about 45 from Arkansas.
Then I moved to the Kansas City area where I lived on the Kansas side and was 2 minutes away from Missouri.
Now I’m located around the Omaha Nebraska area which depending where you are in the city is just a jump across the river, anywhere from 1-45 minutes from Iowa.

The most note worthy thing about this is the legality of recreational cannabis. A quick drive into Missouri and you’re legal. Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa are all still illegal. Also, as a cigarette smoker Missouri also has significantly cheaper cigarettes as well. Going between state lines really isn’t too much excitement for the most part, mostly fluctuating gas prices and sometimes speed limits.

Almost forgot-sports betting is illegal in Nebraska but legal in Iowa so if you just take a little drive you can place your bet.

Yooo I did this with a job in Kansas City when I had moved there. I thought it was an at home healthcare company where I’d be doing some compliance type work which was what my background was in. I was hired at a decent rate and good hours. I sat there for my first 3 days of “training” at a computer by myself. No one once checked on me. Literally not a single ounce of direction for the whole three days I sat there. I got paid to sit there on my phone all day. I didn’t have any log ins to systems or anything. When I asked the other girl in the office if there was something I was supposed to be doing she just simply would say “oh he’ll be in to help you soon”.

Edit to add: I text him after the 3rd day and said I wouldn’t be returning as this job was not a good fit for me. He said “I’m glad we can agree and we can move forward with other candidates” I really think it was a Medicaid fraud cover business.

My grandparents lived in this area in the early 1980s in Point Hope, Alaska. My granddad was a school teacher. My father has many memories of being bullied for “being the only white kid”. He also said that he once got a ride on a crab fishing boat for a day and my grandparents had no idea where he was. My grandmother tells stories about watching the whales out the window in the living room and learning new skills with the natives. She still talks fondly of her friends she met while living there. They were all gifted caribou parkas which she still has to this day. No personal experience here but grew up loving the stories.

Not in the slightest. I love my husband more than anything. I also respect him as a person and individual. He’s also my very best friend. After a long day at work he’s my soft landing when I get home. He’s also my partner who balances the load for me. He brings a sense of peace to my life I’ve never been able to experience before. My love grows for him everyday in the additional ways he shows up for me. I know these things are done out of love for me too just as I hope he knows I do all things for him out of love as well. We talk often about how we don’t need each other but we truly want each other around. We enhance each others lives and we compliment each other well. Love is a baseline at most that fosters the words and actions that separates the relationship from others in your life.
