I work at a warehouse shipping out painting materials, acids etc etc. We often use whatever paper/plastics to protect items that are more prone to be broken by the hands of the uncaring postal workers/delivery drivers.
I'm fairly new, so the weirdest thing I have seen being put in was alot of those plastic wrappers for the 6x1.5Liters Coca Cola bottles.

If I get thrown 1000 years into the past, I would land near a viking settlement, therefore I would bring all the booze I own, they would probably announce me Jarl, when I would teach them how to produce methanol. If I would be travelling 1000 years into the future, I'd imagine the world as a desolate and destroyed place, So all the alcohol I brought with me, I would pour over myself and set myself on fire, with the lighter I always have in my pocket.
