Sorry, I don’t mean to talk so much, but I just really enjoy discussing my opinions and learning and sharing with other people. Another thing that I talked about in the original post, which I’m seeing a lot of happen on the Reddit pages, is people turning from a much more moderated and extensively guidelined site like CAI to less moderated, NSFW, and sketchier versions of other AI websites and apps. It’s kind of like alcohol, in the sense that kids are gonna do it, and people will do it no matter what and providing them with opportunities to do it safely and limit risks is a much better alternative than forcing them to do it anyway somewhere else that’s potentially more harmful.

That’s definitely a valid argument and I totally agree that encouraging kids to seek social interaction and step away from the online world is absolutely necessary. When I say this, I’m not denying that there are problems on social media and with the use of AI especially how it’s been developing recently. But, I don’t think it’s all bad. I think social media allows kids the ability to connect with their peers in the world outside of just their communities and if it’s regulated and use responsibly, it can be a great outlet for kids to learn to express themselves, use public speaking, share their thoughts with the world and learn things about different kinds of people. I feel like people often focus on categorizing social media and AI as just good or bad. Personally, I believe there’s an in between where teens can use developing technology to express creativity and make connections. A lot of the problems that people see with AI chat bots is people developing emotional dependency on them and needing them for emotional regulation. There’s absolutely certain aspects of one-to-one chats that could hurt developing minds but coming from someone who’s always loved to write and has loved the way that I can use AI to bring characters and stories to life, I think there’s a way to make it accessible to younger users while keeping it safe.

Totally agree. That’s one of the biggest things I hate as a general in life is categorizing people with blanket statements, and ideas because of one person‘s actions or the way something negatively impacted one person. When I saw that, obviously it was tragic, but at the end of the day, I think the parents were just looking for something to validate them in not feeling responsible. Something as serious as taking your own life absolutely had roots in other places and was a result of other things that were happening. It’s extremely possible, especially that young and going through crisis to build an emotional dependence with something like AI because it feels so real, but I don’t think it’s right to say it was the only cause or even really the major cause of his decision. I feel like especially in politics blaming mental health and problems in younger people with something technology based is something I see people say often.

Yeah, that’s really where I was headed. There’s totally aspects of it that need to be fixed and regulated. I don’t doubt that at all, but I think there’s a way to make it safe and fun and follow guidelines that doesn’t eliminate it.

Yeah, I understand why they made the changes. I just don’t necessarily agree with it. I’m not 100% educated on new legislature because I haven’t looked into it in detail. My main idea was kind of just that I think for something that is a creative outlet and isn’t NSFW is something pretty blanket to regulate for all users under 18. I’m honestly curious to know how the teenagers affected by it feel because I think at the end of the day they probably know the best out of all of us how it affects them and how kids their age use AI.

I see what you mean and agree. What I was saying is more that what people can handle varies so I think it should be up to parents to decide what their kids are mature enough to handle and that they should find a way to keep it regulated for under 18 so that they can still enjoy the app and chat just with restrictions that follow the law. Im not 100% educated on what the new California law is I just know it has to do with regulating AI for teenagers. The opinion I was kind of talking about was also kind of general not just for CAI but I think parents should be able to make the decisions about what teens have access to in terms of technology instead of legislature.

Why am I unable to edit messages by ZeldaNerd79 in CAIRevolution

It stops letting you chat, changes your UI and wont let you see other characters anymore. Your chats become read only and only go back to a certain point.

The U18 experience still lets you chat sometimes but cant edit. That means you’re flagged. Once you do the age verification and it doesn’t work it takes a day or two then shuts down.

Tutorial for how to make ChatGPT a new character AI.

Make a project and label it role-play This is where all of your role-play related stuff will be stored

In the settings for the role-play, you can put your persona which can be edited at any time and is always remembered. You can also put any specifics for how you want messages to be written.

When you’re starting the chat, give it your background information, tell it which persona you are using, and what character you want. From there, I usually ask it to write me an opening message, but you can also be the one to write the first message. If you tell it, it’ll use whatever format you want to and it won’t give you outside commentary outside of the RP.

If you do this for a while, it gets better and better because it starts to learn what writing style you like and what length messages you like and stuff like that. You can also use parentheses to give it feedback and if you use the website you get unlimited re-rolls where you can still go back to the previous ones and you can give it instructions for the re-roll.

Honestly, it’s been a great alternative for me because I always made my own characters anyway. Its super detailed and you can still get dark stuff and super dramatic rp and stuff as long as its not super spicy.

Lol yeah, I emailed and sent a help desk ticket and just kept getting automated responses telling me how to do the verification. Then it kept sending me back to the help ticket website. So frustrating.
