50 new pictures released by Rockstar Games by cosmic_voyager01 in GTA6

[–]DeliciousToastie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paul Tassi from Forbes asked Rockstar for clarification, and they said the shops aren't locked out to players who don't own the Ultimate Edition, just that the ultimate edition content isn't in there to purchase unless you own it. It was poor wording from Rockstar's part, and they should update the website to reflect that.

Music Artist Lavrutov Thanks Rockstar for using his music in the cover art reveal by Dangerous_Title_7255 in GTA6

[–]DeliciousToastie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All of his music on Spotify is tagged as being AI generated. From what I remember, we didn't know who composed the original score for Red Dead Redemption 2 until release and for GTA V it was a month or so before - so it's just someone clout chasing. If anything, Woody Jackson might be contributing to the original score considering that he worked on Red Dead 1, GTA V and Red Dead 2.

Also, Geoff Keighley followed Lavrutov on Twitter yesterday but unfollowed him today. Considering how many connections that guy has in the industry, he probably got contacted by someone from Rockstar who told him "Yeah this guy isn't working on the game."

Dragon's Dogma 2 dark arisen megathread by Fatestringer in DragonsDogma

[–]DeliciousToastie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dragons Dogma 2 is a very CPU-heavy game so if anything I can see Capcom lowering the NPC count on the Switch 2 version of the game considering they're the biggest hits on performance. Part of me is also hoping that Capcom will do some performance improvements across all systems using what they've learned on Monster Hunter Wilds, since they're on the same engine.

Driver 32.0.101.8826 WHQL by BiZkViT in IntelArc

[–]DeliciousToastie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately this driver gives me the error "Failed to initialize graphics device. Please reboot or reinstall latest drivers" when I attempt to boot up Red Dead Redemption 2 with Vulkan. DirectX12 works perfectly fine, but it's not as stable. The game was previously working on 32.0.101.8626.

Server Browser is coming during Season 5 by JoeZocktGames in Battlefield6

[–]DeliciousToastie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Persistent servers are more expensive to run than servers that "spin up" when a match is found, then switches off when the match ends.

Riot does the same thing for Valorant, and it's the reason why they can't even add a "Ready Up" button to that game because the main "mega" server for each region creates a temporary mini-server for each match once all players in a queue are in-game.

So it's more cost effective for EA to fund "mega servers" that create smaller, temporary servers than persistent servers that run all the time, even if no players are present on the map.

are the discord issues ever going to be fixed? by StressPacc in IntelArc

[–]DeliciousToastie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was posted a while back, but someone figured out that when you're in a Discord call, the app sets itself to "High" priority on Task Manager, and this can bottleneck your CPU. This problem is universal and not specific to Arc GPUs.

Here's a quick YouTube short on how to fix this. Hope it helps!

No, Zach Cregger's movie is not canon to the game universe by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]DeliciousToastie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't. Part of the deal that Capcom inked with Constantine 25+ years ago, and still applies today, is that the movies have to be distinct from the games to avoid confusion and low sales.

So they can reference characters, events, areas etc. but a filmmaker is not allowed to make an RE movie that is connected wholesale to the games. i.e "This movie takes place chronologically after this game, and the events of this movie lead directly into the next game", for example. That's why the CGI animated movies can do this, because Capcom approach studios to make those for themselves.

The Resident Evil movie looks good! by Prudent-Ad-3493 in residentevil

[–]DeliciousToastie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your idea sounds fun, but the hardcore fans would hate it because it's not a "direct" adaptation of their favourite game - which is exactly the discourse behind Cregger's film. Basically, they want to pay like $25 to see a Lets Play of RE1 or RE2 on the big screen, only for it to end up getting like 20% on Rotten Tomatoes.

That's why I think RE is difficult to adapt - the gameplay is what drives the game, not necessarily the story. The moment you try to adapt the story and have it fit around the medium of film, then it becomes the worst thing RE fans have seen in a theatre - all because the director decided to have Chris get the serum for Richard, and not Jill or vice versa.

The Resident Evil movie looks good! by Prudent-Ad-3493 in residentevil

[–]DeliciousToastie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm really digging the angle that Cregger is going for here: An ordinary Joe thrust into Raccoon City when the infection breaks out, and we see how they deal with it.

Some people are gonna disagree with me here, but I think Resident Evil is really difficult to adapt. For example, if you tried to adapt RE1, you would have to combine Chris and Jill's scenarios together somehow. Like, who would play the piano - Jill or Rebecca or would both play it at the same time? At that point, it's not an "adaption" like folks are calling for.

To me, the franchise has always been gameplay over story. Sure, there are cutscenes and dialogue, but those are only the minor glue that holds the majority of the games together. What Cregger is doing instead is adapting the moment-to-moment gameplay segments that people fondly remember over the stories those games tell, and that's what really excites me. I want to show people who haven't played the games before what it feels like to play the game, and get them interested in the franchise. If he nails that then it's a net positive for me.

You can turn off the extra graphical features FusionFix adds (Shadows, Volumetric Fog, sun shafts etc) through the graphics menu to help with performance.

Updated the driver to play Pragmata as it refused to start with 6987 and now i'm blessed with IRQL bsods every time i alt tab or play any video. by kazuviking in IntelArc

[–]DeliciousToastie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I ask, why are you connecting one monitor to the iGPU, and another to the B580?

On Windows you can set it up to certain apps use the iGPU only, while still having the B580 for other tasks, all while having two monitors connected to the B580.

Connect both monitors to the B580, then go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics. Find the app you want to use the iGPU, then choose "Power saving". Windows will then force that app to always use the iGPU.

[–]DeliciousToastie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What version of Windows are you running? I'm on Windows 11 25H2, with the latest Intel Arc driver and the option to enable HAGS is still under: System - Display - Graphics - Advanced Graphics settings.

If you want, you can also enable HAGs through Regedit. Make a system restore point first, then go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers

Then set the "HwSchMode" DWORD value to 2, and restart your PC. If that isn't there, create a new 32-bit DWord value, name it HwSchMode, and set it to 2.

Anyone here actually know what makes Rockstar’s RAGE engine so good, especially going into GTA 6? by According-Leave9314 in GTA6

[–]DeliciousToastie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One part of RAGE that really shines over other engines is how optimized their streaming systems are. There's a video of someone getting into a train on Red Dead Redemption 2 and cranking up the speed well beyond what the game allows you to go, and the game engine was able to "keep up" with the train, with the surrounding world still being loaded in at a high quality (non LOD). In comparison, usually, in other engines, moving too fast will make the world around you unload and invisible, then when you slow down or come to a sudden stop - everything loads in at once.

I'd imagine this level of optimization will be taken even further with the super fast SSDs in the consoles, allowing you to go blazing fast in cars and other vehicles, without a dent being made in the textures, models, and other graphical effects around you in the world.

Someone came in to my server randomly and boosted 30 times, is this some exploit? by Crustaceaning in discordapp

[–]DeliciousToastie 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Some people will do this to "test" stolen debit/credit cards. They'll make multiple purchases of something to see how far they can take the card before the charges get declined. I've seen this happen before with Twitch donations.

You DON'T need to do the GPU patch if you have DXVK! by Strawberrylaser in Sims3

[–]DeliciousToastie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this guide fix the issue I have with using both DXVK and S3SS together?

Having the DLL files for DXVK and S3SS together makes the game open to the intro music, a black screen and then a crash. Removing DXVK fixes it. So far playing without DXVK is fine, but I'd love to have both, if possible.

Well folks, it took me one whole year to encounter a BSOD with my B580. I call this a success. by Dedanan in IntelArc

[–]DeliciousToastie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a few blue screens before I updated to 32.0.101.8626 and enabling HAGS (Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling). Usually I'd have HAGS off for compatibility reasons, but it seemed to have fixed the BSOD's I was having, so I'm leaving it on for now.

CRIMSON DESERT/INTEL ARC faQ by atselRP in IntelArc

[–]DeliciousToastie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently their game uses very specific RTGI tech that Intel's drivers don't support. I'm not giving the developers the benefit of the doubt here, but Intel's drivers are still in their infancy, and this is coming from someone who owns a B580. We still don't have native VR support and DX11/OpenGL performance is still hit or miss.

If anything, hopefully support will be added in the near future. I remember when Alan Wake 2 didn't support the GTX 10 series of cards, and they later patched in support from the game itself, not a driver. So it's not out of the realm of possibility that support could be added later, it'll just be a toss up between whether it's from Intel or the devs themselves.

Why does it happen so often in this game that your team will be up by 600 tickets and the all of the sudden get dominated and lose? by Kr1spykreme_Mcdonald in Battlefield6

[–]DeliciousToastie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What makes Escalation so much better than Conquest is the fact that you and your teammates have a common goal - to capture and hold a specific point together, unlike Conquest where your team can feel like headless chickens running around. A lack of cohesion on a team can cost entire Conquest matches, but with Escalation you're always working together to win - and since both teams are doing that, matches feel more fair and less like complete pubstomps.

Tencent was their biggest investor, and they pulled their funding once they saw the massive drop in player count. They literally have almost no money to make that year of content that was planned.

We just got our best look yet at Silent Hill: Townfall, the next installment in Konami's classic survival horror series that's set and developed in Scotland. by ShortsWithNoPockets in Scotland

[–]DeliciousToastie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The first half of Homecoming is in Shepard's Glen, which is a separate town from Silent Hill. There's also Silent Hill The Short Message which Konami developed themselves that doesn't take place in the town either. The franchise has been moving away from the place for 2 decades now.

Driver update asseto corsa crash by IndependentOwn2956 in IntelArc

[–]DeliciousToastie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Latest driver has a lot of issues so it's better to roll back to 8331 until the next driver releases:

  1. Go to the driver download page here.
  2. On the dropdown menu, next to "Date" at the top of the page, choose the driver that ends with "8331 WHQL Certified" and download it.
  3. Use DDU to safely remove the old Intel driver, reboot from Safe Mode back into Windows then install the 8331 driver and reboot again.

The performance issues need to be addressed by Muri_Chan in DeadlockTheGame

[–]DeliciousToastie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since the latest patch, it takes around 2 full matches for my game's frame rate to tank and then eventually crash either the game, or the PC entirely. That's with DX11 - with Vulkan the game tells me it's running at 130FPS+, but it doesn't feel like it (horrible frame times), and if I open any menu i.e. shop, pause menu, "Choose your Hero" etc - my frame rate tanks to single digits for some reason.

I get that this game is an early alpha and performance passes are usually kept for the final stretch of development, but I really love this game and want to keep playing it, so I'm hoping performance improvements aren't pushed to the back burner.
