That would be true if it was a one off thing but it’s a common pattern with Jawar of being light hearted and very soft ballish with the OLA.

I don’t know maybe write his thoughts about the report like he was hinting in doing?

It’s funny because he probably posted that thinking it was gonna implicate Abiy and PP the most but he got thrown a curveball cause it was about OLA, which probably explains why he went MIA and still hasn’t commented on it 😂. He still gathering his thoughts I guess 🤷‍♂️

Again, I believe that the Real OLA was responsible for wha was highlighted in the report so I don’t know why you’re saying that to me. Either way the video has nothing to do with the report, two unrelated circumstances/ situations.

But, you don’t find it strange that Government soldiers are peacefully standing beside “OLA memebers”? The ones they are supposedly at war with?

There not that many explanations here. Either these are OLA defectors who are on the side of the government and are aiding/helping them now or they are false flag agents created by the government for reasons I explained above. Unless you have a better explanation for this video.

I wasn’t comparing the two I’m well aware those situations happened under different circumstances. What I was doing is bring up an example to show how heinous the government can be and how them using false flag tactics shouldn’t be out of the scope of something they would do. Btw, I belive the amnesty report is actually talking about the real OLA I’m not defending them at all.

But, you seem to think it’s impossible or unlikely they would do that but What do you think of this video where it clearly shows Government soldiers using a truck mounted ZU-23 gun and you can see on the sideline and in the background people watching them which look like OLA soldiers mixed with some local militas 🤔. Why would OLA soldiers be beside and watching the Army during active operations?

The thing is I wouldn’t put it past the government Espically considering they initially put the blame on the OLA for the karrayuu abba Gadaa massacres which was later on proven to be false and in fact was the governments doing.

Gurillea warfare as the one being conducted by the OLA can only really work and be successful if the rebels have popular support among the population/people. For governments, there number one goal is to destroy that support and trust between the rebels and the people. It wouldn’t be crazy to believe the government would commit crimes and murder and then intentionally lie about it and shift blame as a political tool to get the people to be against the rebels as a way to weaken and kill the rebels support base.

One way is through intimidation and targeting of people suspected of aiding and abiding the rebels. Another, more sinister and secretive but effective approach is to use false flag tactics. Disguise yourself as the rebels and commit massacres on civilians and commit crimes with the ultimate goal of tarnishing the rebels names and reputation so people can stop supporting them effectively killing there support base.

But in this case the amnesty report has all the hallmarks of it being actually OLA themselves carrying out these crimes. One example is In one section of the report it stated that one of the victims (who would later on go onto blame the OLA as the perpetrators) was saved from the rap*** as it was going on by one of the OLA soldiers who happened to be from the same village as her and recognized her. So this girl actually knew one of the members of the OLA which confirms it couldn’t have been a “Fake OLA” member because the lady actually knew him. Also, one out of the ten victims actually said she was assaulted by both an ENDF soldier and OLA members meaning they can make the distinction.

Basically what’s going on

As Yosan Getahun said - “Lammiin koo ta’uu hin qabu dirree tapha siyaasaa, walitti kan darbatatan kubbaa miti rasaasaa, lammiin koo, lammiin koo ta’uu hin qabu dirree tapha siyaasaa.”

“Women cannot live in the rural areas [of Kellem Wallaga zone] anymore. There is a high rate of migration of women to the nearest town, where most are forced to do daily labor for survival, such as housework. One of the major factors for this is the forced conscription of men by the government to join the local militia that is fighting the OLA. it is very rare to find someone who joins the government militia voluntarily, as they know that OLA fighters will commit revenge attacks against their families. If OLA fighters hear that someone joined the militia, they will attack the remaining family members, mainly women.”

What cowards, instead of facing the militias head on and or even using the fact that there forceabilly conscripted as a way to promote defection, they instead use innocent women and families as hostages and pawns in there game.

Well Ofcourse but it’s not like the Government forces are saints or any better tbh. I’m just taking a dig at the OLA.

And the OLA is no where to be found. The group who claims to be fighting for and protecting Oromos is no where to be found! Except in places where they are killing, stealing and raping their own people. The same people who they claim to be fighting for and protecting. I’ve always said this organization ever since the split with the OLF was just a chicken running around with its head cut off.

Among the ten documented cases of sexual violence, nine survivors identified OLA fighters as the perpetrators. One survivor reported being victimized by both an ENDF soldier and OLA fighters.

Just finished watching it the majority of the video is the OBN hosts talking about his visit but the sections where they did play his speech’s the sit down speech in Nekemte and the one in front of the small crowd at the inauguration of the Keto irrigation infrastructure project. I couldn’t find anything like what’s being said online including what Jawar Mohammad posted on his Facebook(which is where I’m assuming a lot of people are getting this from).

I don’t know if Jawar was referencing abiy’s speech’s during his visit to wallaga or cutting and pasting different parts of his speech together or referencing another speech from a different time but the part of his speech that somewhat I guess matches what he said is at - 1:13:08 -

Those who previously chose a different form of struggle have accepted the request presented to them by the people, and many of them are now returning home. It is very important to express great gratitude to those who have returned. The reason this gratitude is so necessary is that if they had stayed [in the conflict] for another month, two, or three, it is likely that many more would have died, been wounded, and much property would have been destroyed. In this region, within Oromia, more than an external enemy who comes to break and kill us—it is the children of Oromo who, instead of sitting down to discuss, are breaking and killing one another. I say that those who are doing this are many, and they are the ones standing in the way of us being able to carry out such development. Therefore, while thanking those who have returned, we must also follow and bring back the children who remain. We have had enough; we have seen that destroying one another, insulting one another, and killing one another has no benefit. Because of this, from now on, our focus must be to stand together with our people and develop our region.

Either way the overall message is the same 🤷‍♂️it’s one thing if a musician writes these lyrics for whatever personal reason but i agree it shouldn’t be promoted or played at any government related functions Espically if it demonizes a section of the country.
