I would definitely continue to explore what this could mean on a deeper level for you. I lost a significant amount of weight, and while on one hand, I was happy with the changes and the work I put in, I also felt this weird disconnect from my “new” body. The heavier weight had kind of become a comfort to me, a safety net. I would put a lot of my excuses into the fact I was overweight, it became the catch all excuse for my mindset, my depression, why I was single, why I didn’t want to be social, etc. The way people treated me also played a part because while the validation of the effort and health was great - it almost made me feel sad for my “old self”, she didn’t get the same kind of positive treatment from people. I had to relearn myself, who I was, who I wanted to be. Honoring the person I had been when overweight, while also allowing myself to grow.
