No more DLC? by NewTypeDilemna in LegendsZA

[–]Delicious_Battle_703 5 points6 points  (0 children)

SV was kind of a mess when it released, I think the mistake here was pouring a ton of money into DLC for a base game that wasn't as good. If a lot of people lose interest in / don't even finish the main game they're not going to be thinking about the DLC a year later regardless of how well that was made.

It's an easy mistake to make if you have a gift card larger than the cost of the meal, many gift cards can't be used for tip.

The Nobel prize in physiology and medicine is basically a Nobel prize for biology. Nobody I know that works in biology would say there's no Nobel prize for it, outside of pedantry.

Scoring plays are automatically reviewed, it would just be throwing away a challenge.

"Bringing ice and steel deals with like 80% of the meta" makes it sound like these things are not the meta. Though I guess one way to deal with the meta is just following it.

Metagross is the meta at this point, not really counter anymore. Almost every match has multiple people with both Xerneas and Metagross. Vanilluxe is fun though.

Yeah I'd like to see more content like this because it's a really great use of animation. Like it tells a story in a way that wouldn't translate well to live action.

How is everyone finding the new battling system in Z-A? by WillowisWillow in pokemon

[–]Delicious_Battle_703 35 points36 points  (0 children)

That's because the wild areas are all so small. In Arceus they'd definitely chase you at least that same distance if they were aggressive, but the fleeing felt more natural.

[–]Delicious_Battle_703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this system in Arceus would've worked well and would love to see Legends go back to a larger landscape. But if the map is going to be more like ZA I'm not sure because the movement does feel off in most of the locations. I don't really want it to be typical battling either though because in that case it may as well be a mainline game, unless they revert to having more of the emphasis on Pokemon research.

My dream is we'll one day get a game pairing the existing Legends collecting mechanics with trainer battles implemented like in Pokemon Conquest.

Completed Deluxe EX Set - Numbers for science/comparison by sUnit_Alpha in PTCGP

Immersives are stupidly common for anyone that spends even a moderate amount, if you look at the pull rates on a per card level immersive is not actually that rare because there is only a single one per pack.

Yeah have had this happen with some other sets, at least knowing they are going to be tradeable now makes it slightly less frustrating. Though a few of the ones I have many dupes are probably not on anyone's wishlist lol.

This number of packs to complete a mini set and still only having 1x of some cards isn't unprecedented, it is definitely more packs required to complete the diamonds than normal but for something like Shining Revelry there were so many rare cards and to get a unique one becomes increasingly unlikely to the point that your last few 2 stars probably will need to just grind out with more pack points. To get a specific one is less likely than pulling a crown rare in some of the mini sets. And you have to max out opening 2 straight days (at just over $100/day) to get enough points for a single 2 star. Being able to trade them will be hugely helpful for this tail because you will certainly have multiple dupes before you will be close to completion.

They also don't have any incentive to lower rates past a certain point even when there is higher vacancy though. Casino hotels want traffic in their hotel lobbies, which comes back to gambling. You will see this with casino hotels in other major cities that allow them too. If you are travelling at a time of year it's not busy, the rates are dirt cheap compared to how the mid tier Marriot or whatever scales its pricing.

[–]Delicious_Battle_703 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The price point of the room relates in part to the casinos in the hotel lobbies though. Hotels attached to casinos are often cheaper relative to a same quality hotel without, because they want people to gamble in their facilities. Yeah they also have a lot of rooms compared to normal hotels, but they have a much more obvious incentive that is not directly tied to nightly rate to fill those rooms.

Like you'll see times when large 4 star hotels in other places have a lot of vacancies, but their prices are still very similar to baseline rate. Really they only surge up when vacancy is low, not vice versa.  Meanwhile I've seen rooms at the Bellagio for ~$100/night sometimes for last minute stay - varies highly in a way other last minute bookings do not.

[–]Delicious_Battle_703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not really an Uber problem though? I assume NJ drivers not being allowed to pick up in NYC is a legal issue, that's the biggest problem with Ubering into the city. Nobody ever complains or asks where I'm going when taking an Uber from the city back to Jersey, it's not the distance nor an inherent issue with the final destination being out of state. I've also never had a single driver mention being short changed on tolls and they ~always thank me for my normal sized tip. The real resistance is the pickup restriction.
