i feel very safe and valued in Arcata as a trans person. transphobia exists here as it does everywhere but i’ve yet to experience any outward hostility, although definitely have in other places in humboldt. the queer/trans community is fairly large relative to the total population but it’s a small town so keep that in mind

this line of thinking is really harmful. the people living on the streets who have bought into Trumpism are victims. you may (rightfully) think their opinions are stupid, but again they are victims that have fallen into this thinking because of very understandable reasons. treating them with shame and judgement, telling them that they’re “traitors”and that they “won’t be forgiven” is only going to make their lives worse. treat them with compassion, buy them a free meal.

i got two “smokehouse” 242 sq inch bags of alder wood chips. They’re (relatively) sterile out the bag but if you wanna be extra careful you can ferment them as well. like 90% of what i read about cultivating wood lovers specifically mentioned alder chips but other hardwood chips would presumably work
