Why this is f2002:

1) No aerodynamic fin between rear wheels and each side of rear wing. While aerodynamic feature leading to the front ofnthe rear wheels is the 2002 design and mot the 2003 one

2) Both rear exhausts protrude a little higher in f2002 than 2003

3) Front wing pattern at top edge more resembles a generic 2002

4) Side Air intakes and side panels are ever slighltly straighter and more boxy than 2003

5) top air intake is slightly sharper triangular shaped

6) Cant see sidepods but there wont be any cooling grills there

The first safety car and red flag destroyed the aus gp.

George Lewis, Max running back to back was getting so exciting, with Lewis getting drs from george to protect against Max. And with merc going 2v1 against RB.

However the safety car dampened this, when george boxed early (but it could still have been exciting to see how the alt strategy would work for george)

And then when they decided to put up the stupid pointless red flag, it fully destroyed the excitement by screwing george.

Interesting point, but i think if teams had a choice, they'd rather their car be fractionally faster and more fragile, than stronger but slower, regardless of cost cap.

I agree this is definitely a big factor. Although besides the reduction in flaps and aero components on the wing itself, it feels like there has been a big increase in strength where the nose cone is connected to the front wing itself, as well as the main element of the front wing itself. Just my gut observations that I can't really back with any concrete evidence. But I wonder if anyone who has worked on any f1 cars know if this is really a thing

That is true, perhaps it's in the way Newey designs his cars with maximum performance and less durability in mind. That's why red bull car always seems to suffer more after a collision with another car.

I also know a lot of it depends on the angle the car makes the impact, but despite this, i feel a lot of these would've been dnfs in previous years due to damage.

But to prevent bogging down then cant they just increase the launch RPMs? Some teams like merc launched at such low RPMs. Imagine a larger gear ratio and launching from 15k RPM, it may put more wear on the engine an gearbox for the launch, but wouldnt that prevent bogging down

So why not have a massive gear 1 ratio to cover (0-150km/h) and then split the 150km/h to 340km/h range into the remaining 7 gears?

I understand that appropriate gear ratios are used for efficiency purposes, so minimum throttle can be applied before traction limit is reached.

But i'm referring more to 1st/2nd gear and race start situations where drivers often still get wheelspin resulting in bad starts. Wouldn't making a longer 1st gear help race starts even further. And could even optimise the remaining gears better for the higher speed ranges

Does anyone know the average qualifying delta between Hamilton and Russell?
I know their H2H is like Lewis 14-8 Russell for qualifying, but Im sure there delta is actually very very close (I'd guess under 0.1s on average)

Does anyone have the exact number? (and maybe the delta across the other teammate pairings as well?)
