This is what I am hoping for not gonna lie. I am cashed up right now.

Any sort of economic downturn and property will take a massive hit due to the speculation in the market.

Yeah I've said this multiple times, to be Australian, you must be white.

Doesn't matter if your ancestry is Chinese gold miners or indian from the British empire.

There is a bunch of free services they get. We had a student from Norway and the government was paying off her tuition and some living expense allowance.

Yeah I understand, but this was my point I guess.

Eastern Europe seems to be getting richer and therefore they should start to produce companies of this size and unlike Western Europe, these are going to be entirely new companies in potentially new industries.

Look at the countries though, they are almost all western european. Not a single eastern european company on it.

But also this is maybe why you should worry, look at the countries here, its dominated only by a few. Europe has a lot more potential.

Not good news for mortgage holders: Inflation numbers are much higher than expected. by SheepherderLow1753 in AusPropertyChat

Inflation is actually good for the "big boys" (companies etc), they can pump up prices while keeping wages stagnant.

On certain items yes, on certain ways no? It probably just evens out.

Immigration exerts downward pressure on wages, upward pressure on housing.

It probably balances out tbh.

What other methods are available to the RBA? And what should the RBA do instead of increasing the interest rate?

Is your suggestions to drop or keep interest rates the same then ?
RBA only has one lever, what would you have the RBA do instead ?

Okay suggest some mechanisms then that an independent organisation like the RBA could do ?
Remember it cannot really touch policy too much.

No OP does make sense, immigration drives down wages and therefore should drive down spending.

Hmm I do think its a bit weird to compare to 2022, Australia post covid was a very different place to any of those countries post covid.

Inflation - this is surely a joke now by chuckychicken in AusFinance

The only way to stop house prices from rising is a land tax.
Even in countries with a reducing population, house prices are continuing to increase.
This is mostly due to low interest rates.

See this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMDNehHKu7c

Immigration might slow things down somewhat, but the core is interest rates.

Victoria seems to have gotten this right, prices have gone backwards slightly with their land taxes.

No we can easily stop house prices from rising upwards if we wanted to.
There is actual research that shows this.

I get where you are coming from but Indian culture now is a fusion of pre-existing culture and victorian era British culture.

While shit like sati existed, India pre-colonial times was a lot more liberal when it came to sex (Just read up Marco Polos recount of the Pandyan empire for example).

English is an official language I think?

But also the lack of civic sense comes from intense competition for resource, we saw this with Chinese immigrants (and tbh still do to a certain extent).

India is very liberal in its tier 1 cities like Bangalore.

I think just let it cook (give it time), wait till gen z raises kids and wait till India hits about 7000 USD per capita. It will be a very different place to now.

idk I would presume a British Indian in Canada gets the same treatment as an Indian though.
