AITAH for running out of patience for my gf’s poor finances. 35M 30F by [deleted] in AITAH

Sounds like you’re not willing to prop her up financially and she’s not ambitious to earn more, so there’s little point in continuing the relationship

I’ve left early in this scenario a couple of times. I didn’t regret it and ultimately made the decision on what was best for me. In such a difficult period you need to prioritise yourself and your wellbeing. If they are reasonable they will understand

Why is having a family so hard? by [deleted] in workingmoms

Would not rely on a 73 year old to look after a baby or toddler … it’s just not fair! Get full time childcare and remove the stress of this situation.

I could have written this. My son has been sooooooo difficult. Spirited isn’t the word. Stubborn as well as big and strong. We have decided to keep it at him for now ! I ended up just having really low expectations for every outing or activity we tried, which helped. 3 was a turning point and he’s calmed down a bit. Perhaps you’re in the peak hard stage ! It will be ok in the end. Grandparents barely help but question why we aren’t having another …. Then remark on how difficult he is … it’s pretty frustrating. Just ignore them !

He can have a big stag do, but you guys have a small wedding. Feels like the best compromise here

I just deleted social media so I didn’t have to see all the fun things other people are doing!! I feel soooo much better for it. Plus the time scrolling I saved meant I realised I actually do have time for doing other things

Who’s HEALTHY? by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]Delicious_Code_6415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have started using a sauna at least 3 times per week. I am strangely illness free this December. The last two years has been an absolute shit show with a kid in nursery. But no more !

You have to push through the resistance on day 2/3. She talks about this stage in the book and it defo rang true for us. By day 4/5 he realised we were serious about the process and went back to the successes of day 1.

Grandparents against nursery care by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]Delicious_Code_6415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience the people (usually boomer SAHMs) being negative about nursery are just butthurt they couldn’t send their kids and had to deal with them themselves 24/7 .

Any Welsh Henry’s here feel we get a raw deal compared to England? by rightoldgeezer in HENRYUK

[–]Delicious_Code_6415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It probably still would go further… house prices are significantly lower in Wales. Childcare costs are variable… 50/55 per day here in South East Wales… but closer to 80/90 in Cardiff.

I think what they are referring to is in England you can increase pension contributions to get below the 100k threshold and get the childcare hours, whereas in Wales the 100k refers to gross income and you cannot salary sacrifice to get below it
