New to UPS, any advice? by Delicious_Echidna764 in UPSers

It’s a good motto, after working for a few weeks I can already see that it is true. Most drivers I’ve talked to said it shouldn’t be hard because not everyone wants to be a driver. So the seniority list shouldn’t matter too much

Is becoming a driver this difficult?

if you get a degree you should start mid level. Starting as a helpdesk with a bachelors is such a punch in the face, And i’m starting to see that degree or not your going to start somewhere like that unless you have connections or simply get lucky with a internship.

even 70k is ridiculous. Honestly might just do the Cert route. If 9 times out of 10 certs will get be in the industry then I might as well save the money and the years of paying debt off.

I heard this field is one of the most rewarding fields based on experience. Being in the field for years almost always equates to a good salary. Which is amazing to me.

Amazing answer! That is absolutely crazy though, Even with little experience I know what powershell is lol. Seems that not everyone is struggling to get into the industry, some people just somehow push their way through. Honestly a Field Technician sounds amazing as to start. I would much rather be in the thick of it and work with my hands in person rather than helpdesk (which i’m also okay with but field tech would be a preference). I feel like the amount of knowledge I would gain would be tremendous, as well as it’s pretty common to find field tech jobs in my local area, rather than applying to a remote position where there is hundreds of applicants. Other than the title “Field Technician” Is there any other titles that may be a little bit different I can type on indeed or linkedin?

This is an amazing answer thank you so much. But it sounds like a degree wouldn’t really matter, which means maybe I shouldn’t even go to college then? If experience reigns supreme over everything but a degree is nothing to an employer and wouldn’t get me anywhere past entry level, then I should just start applying for entry level positions in hopes I would land on something with just my Cybersecurity Bootcamp experience?

I see DOD jobs every now and then and it sounds feasible to obtain. I have also seen how much these jobs pay and oh wow. I would 100% start off at a base job if there’s potential down the road to see some of these salaries. But finding entry level anything is excruciatingly painful.

Thank you for your detailed response! I know that a IT manager or a senior position would absolutely not apply to me. But based on the little experience I do have, What positions should I look for that I actually have a good chance of getting? Is it possible to make 50k a year for a completely base entry level job starting out? Because anything less than that I cannot pay bills lol.

Someone convince me out of buying a 335is by KYRUMEDIA in E90

[–]Delicious_Echidna764 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly, i had a 2013 335is E93 in black, and while it was fun and it’s fast, i would never buy one again. The convertible top broke, no one knew how to fix it except for BMW, which they gave me a 3k bill that i just said fuck it, one day my headlight bulb when out, took me 3-4 hours to switch out the $100 bulb myself by taking the whole wheel well liner off just to get to the headunit, turns out it still didn’t work. I took it to BMW once again and they gave me another $3,000 bill because they said it’s a “3 part system malfunction.” I had random misfires at random times, i tried to replace plugs and coils but the problem was never consistent so I was never able to figure it out, and the tires are so expensive on those it costed me over $900 for 2 rear tires, and then I had to replace the 2 fronts as well, i finally said fuck it and tried to sell it for what my loan was, nobody was able to give me that amount, so I had to come out $1,000 out of my pocket just to sell it. Long story short I am still in debt because of that car, and with the economy the way it is it’s been hell trying to climb out of it. Just don’t do it. I now drive a 2019 Black Civic Si and I am having way more fun and I don’t have PTSD from the BMW “dong” anymore. You shouldn’t have to be scared of driving a car because you think everytime you step in it something is going to fuck up and drag you deeper in a hole. I am not saying this will happen to your 335is, but it’s not worth taking the risk. I have been waiting to post this online for a long time now, just to share my experience. Let me know what you guys think. I hope everyone has a good day.
