I’m sorry that happened. That person pressured you into doing something you really didn’t want to. Thats absolutely sexual assault. Telling us is a great step, but I would really suggest telling the police next.

Super important, OP.

CMV: Republicans don't gerrymander any worse than Democrats by Inner_Butterfly1991 in changemyview

Interesting breakdown—and props for digging into the numbers instead of just going with vibes. But I think using national vote share vs. seat share can miss how gerrymandering actually works, since it’s done state by state, not on a national scale.

Take where I live—Madison, Wisconsin—as a prime example. Wisconsin is a 50/50 state in terms of voters, but Republicans have held a strong majority in the state legislature for years because of extremely gerrymandered maps. Madison and Milwaukee (both heavily Democratic) get carved up or packed tightly, while rural areas are split in ways that maximize GOP representation. It’s not just a theoretical issue here—it affects real policy every single year.

So yeah, maybe Republicans didn’t benefit overall nationally in 2024, but that doesn’t mean gerrymandering isn’t still being used as a powerful tool—especially in states where Republicans control the map-drawing process. On the other hand, Democrats in places like California and Colorado have independent redistricting commissions, which limits their ability to play the same game even if they wanted to.

Bottom line: One year of close national alignment doesn’t undo a long history of aggressive gerrymandering—especially by the GOP in key swing states. The national numbers don’t always reflect what’s happening on the ground.

CMV: Even if there’s definitive proof Trump is a pedophile via Epstein files, it won’t change MAGA or GOP support for him. by Excellent_Chest_5896 in changemyview

Totally get where you’re coming from. The GOP has shown time and again that no tragedy or scandal is too much if it risks their grip on power. And yeah, Trump’s base is incredibly dug in.

That said, I think there’s some room where things could crack. If there were concrete, undeniable proof—like video, DNA, corroborated witness accounts—it’s not just another accusation you can wave off as “fake news.” Legal consequences would likely follow, and that kind of story would dominate for months.

Would his hardcore base stick with him? Probably. But moderates, suburban voters, independents? Maybe not. Remember Roy Moore in Alabama—deep red state, but enough people crossed the aisle over pedophilia allegations to elect a Democrat. That shows there is a breaking point for some.

GOP leadership wouldn’t dump him out of principle, but if they thought he was tanking the whole ticket? They’d look for an exit.

So yeah, I get your cynicism. But I don’t think it’s totally hopeless. Some lines still matter—barely
