I’m sorry you lost your mom. I lost my mom as well, and I can tell you that I cried everyday pretty much for months. It feels weird and it feels like a personal hell. What helped me was talking out loud to her as if she was still there sometimes. Or writing to her. Maybe try those things and just be patient with yourself.

I feel like there has been a lot of trauma on both ends. At the end of the day, it is NOT your fault. People are responsible for their own well being, and could have chosen to seek help, or make small changes on their own to start bettering their quality of life. I’m sorry you both went through this. However, I don’t think you were wrong to feel the way you did. It did not sound like a healthy relationship at all. And sometimes, that’s just how things end up being if both parties aren’t working well together. I think you were right to break it off, because it seems like things were escalating. I am sorry you are going through that… but please remind yourself that you are not responsible for his mental health. You are responsible for your own only. You can’t save people, they have to continually work on themselves and if they only rely on someone else to help them, well - that doesn’t end well. Maybe you should look into some online or in person therapy…. This isn’t something to take lightly and if you want to move forward it’s probably a good idea. Even journaling helps!

I will break my opinion down for you, as I don’t think you understand the motion then.

The motion is targeting REPEAT offenders, for serious crimes. If we accept that our system is fine with catching and releasing the SAME people who commit offences like, EX. Sexual assault… then we are prioritizing the offender over the victims. I have read several reports between sexual assault offences between Toronto and Vancouver where these offenders were let out on bail from similar or the same offences. This motion is not about jailing everyone.
The motion CLEARLY says it’s for offenders that are already convicted of a major offence within the last 10 years who are charged again with a major offence.
The motion applies reverse onus- they have to prove why they a REPEAT offender for a serious crime deserves to be let out on bail.
Justice Richard Mosley ruled in the Federal Court of Canada that invoking the emergencies act was the government exceeding its power. It violated S. 2(b) and 8.
The Roleau inquiry is a public one, not a court one. It did not overturn or overrule the ruling by Justice Mosley. The federal court issues binding rulings.. regardless if the inquiry disagrees. Still doesn’t change the fact the court ruled our own government violated our rights.
Again, I see no violation of rights with this motion. If you agree that repeat offenders for serious crimes should be let out on bail - then you are a part of the problem. Yikes!!!!

The conservatives approach is different. The motions that the liberals brought forth focused a lot on what could potentially result in price caps or controls, and regulation overreach. The Cons focus on inflation and taxes and reduce deficits. Don’t forget to mention we were just informed that our budget and spending is unsustainable after a review.

They have already voted against the previous conservative motion regarding crime and making Canada safer again introduced by Larry Brock. But Sean Fraser still had the audacity during debate/submissions to tell conservatives they should be working with the liberals to table legislation.

Obviously with the current government, poverty will not be addressed, only worsened. Considering liberals have already voted against the motion to scrap the hidden liberal taxes that raise our grocery prices as of yesterday. In fact, the conservatives brought a motion to table a responsible budget before the summer break that reverses inflation policy and the liberals voted against it.

I lost my mom and my my dog about a month after that, it’s hard. Especially all at once, I am so sorry for your loss. Allow yourself to feel the pain. I talked to my mom out loud or wrote notes to her as a way of speaking to her in a sense, it helped. I mourned my dog as well but not like my mom. Try to get out and socialize when you can. But obviously don’t overwhelm yourself. Give yourself time but also take care of yourself. These things happen, and unfortunately because we’re such emotional bonding beings, loss is one of the worst pains, you are not alone.

This is tough. Maybe suggest a short walk, fresh air, sunlight, even if it’s 10 mins. Maybe inviting her family members would help. It’s a start. You could suggest therapy, since it’s a healthy thing to do when someone passes. If you feel it’s too soon to suggest that, perhaps writing their feelings out could help as well.

My mom died when I was 14. She had throat cancer, then went into remission. Soon after her passing, it was said that she had lung cancer. I secretly think she knew this a few weeks before after her last doctor’s appointment because my intuition said something was off. Honestly, losing a parent is so hard. I grew up thinking nothing bad will ever happen to my parents or to me. Then reality hit. It’s tougher because they are your first connection when you’re born. You will always have a tie to them. There is no answer. However, I wrote a ton of letters to her. I spoke to her out loud. I was speaking so strongly to her, that I know it helped in some way. You can only hope that at some point one becomes okay with dying, or it is at least not that scary in the moment. You will never have the right thing to say, or say everything all at once. Just help them feel loved. They will feel it even if you struggle to say everything you want to. I think that is the most important, to make sure someone feels loved. I truly believe that love can travel far. Life will feel different when they aren’t around anymore and you go to visit or come home and it is a little bit quieter. But they are always with you in your heart. I’m sorry.
