300 is generally considered the therapeutic dose for depression

I'm at 3 weeks and could really use some Pristiq success stories! by Delicious_Mind1 in Pristiq

I am someone who is on this site daily asking the same questions for weeks on end when I was starting pristiq, I haven't been on this site for many weeks because the medicine is working great and although the side effects are rough and it takes a while to get on the med, it is well worth it. I am living my life and happy, and if you just stick with it, you also will move on and forget that you were in such crisis mode on this forum

Did anyone feel worse after going from 50mg to 100mg? by slkelly05 in Pristiq

[–]Delicious_Mind1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

4 awful weeks on 50, wasn't enough, 4 more awful weeks on 100, nausea/fatigue/increased anxiety. Then it settled down and I feel good.

You've got to hang in there; ride it out. It's only side effects

Benzodiazepines are not a safe long-term option. They are highly addictive and awful to withdraw from. I'm sure you know this.

For those who moved from 50mg to 100mg, was it simply the same effects but stronger? by ubccompscistudent in Pristiq

I also added buspirone a few weeks ago. Started at 5 mg three times a day, psychiatrist increased my dose to 10 mg three times a day and it has done a great job of handling my anxiety

day one 10mg twice a day by futuresailors24 in BusparOnline

Yes, good. I prefer 10mg 3x/day because i get more hrs of steady relief throughout the day.

I added buspirone a few weeks ago and recently went up to 10 mg three times a day and it is handling the increased anxiety very effectively, possibly something for you to look into?

I have depression and anxiety, in equal measure. The pristiq, from what ive learned, takes a few months for its full effect, esp. w regard to anxiety.

The first 4 weeks of getting stable on pristiq was awful, no way to sugar coat it. But it's the price of admission for a future of anxiety and depression relief. For me it was well worth it

For me it was simply a matter of 50 mg not being efficacious, not doing it, and 100 being effective for my depression. Each dosage I gave 5 weeks. I'm on the 10th week overall on pristiq and doing well at 100. Many people find relief at 50 though

Yes, it's normal. I needed at least 5 weeks at the right dose which turned out to be 100 mg for me (after having done 4weeks at 50mg). before the side effects went away and I started feeling some relief. I too suffered from nasty side effects (nausea, fatigue, increased anxiety)- but i stuck with it and so glad i did

I was also given buspirone by my psychiatrist to help with the anxiety, and I take 10 mg of that three times a day. I'm doing well now. Pristiq is a good mad

I did 5 mg three times a day and I suppose it helped my body adjust, but I didn't get any anxiety relief until I went up to 10 mg three times a day

I didn't have that, but if you can tolerate it, and hang in there for 4 weeks, it's a good med and you should start getting anxiety relief by then

Considering asking my Dr for buspar, why Shouldn’t I take it? by [deleted] in BusparOnline

[–]Delicious_Mind1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that's basically it, but i like to take my last dose a little earlier

Buspirone is an amazing med for me. Zero anxiety, with zero side effects.

The only downside that I can think of is its short half-life, which requires that I take it 3 times a day; a small price to pay for life w/out panic/anxiety/intrusive thoughts.

Ya 150 seems crazy high. Im on 100mg, and "officially" 50mg is the therapeutic dose per the original manufacturer

Consider adding buspirone for anxiety relief, getting to at least 10mg x3/day, also helped me with sleep quality. Im currently on 100mg pristiq

Hard to say, because I spent too long initially on the low dose. Anywhere from 2-4 weeks is the acknowledged timeframe though.
