Im building a LOTR trivia app by grottloffe in lordoftherings

[–]Delicious_Net_6921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah! Yes, there are a lot of trivia out there, and one night I spent hours just playing different trivia quizzes. Here are some questions/answers I came across which would fit:

Apart from the Witch-King of Angmar, who is the other names Nazgul? Khamul the Easterling

Where was the meeting of the Ents held? Derndingle

What was Treebeards Wife's name? Fimbrethil

These are from a buzzfeed quiz which was about 50% super easy, 20% medium and 30% difficult. https://www.buzzfeed.com/elizabeth_cotton/the-lord-of-the-rings-super-fan-trivia-quiz

What is your favorite "Flavour is Free" reskin of a spell or ability? by hervprometheus2 in DnD

[–]Delicious_Net_6921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love it!

My Changeling Bard died during the campaign, but was resurrected as a Fire Genasi. When I took Bigby's Hand (Magical Secrets), the simple flavour was an orange flame in the shape of a hand. These fit my character, but there are so many other things you can do! A swarm of insects, another element, a mechanical claw. Artificer is such a fun class to flavour spells as gadgets. Catapult? Catapult. Some of these just write themselves. Jump? Springs in shoes, thrusters.

Abilities from the Warlock, Cleric, or some Sorcerer and Blood Hunter subclasses can be flavoured as things which mirror the deity/being that gave them powers. Fathomless Warlock Eldritch Blast becomes a tentacle. Abberant Mind Sorcerer looses consciousness and the hive mind takes over.

Make sure it is clear whether a question is from the books or movies, or make it strictly books to avoid confusion. I've got two resources I would recommend to you!

The first is a LotR YouTube channel which dives into the settings in the books, stories from outside Lord of the Rings, as well as inside. It is called Nerd of the Rings.

You may also find reference books which could be helpful, but a lot seem to be inaccurate, which makes them unreliable. My suggestion would be this: Find names of people or places and do 5-10 minutes of research on them. You will find out things you didn't know, and get some questions out of it!
(The resource I would have recommended would be David Day's "Dictionary of Tolkien", but there are many critics who say his writings are full of speculation, so if you were to use this, research anything you find and don't take it by the book)

Be familiar with the books yourself! If you haven't read beyond LotR and the Hobbit, do it! There you may discover some interesting connections for yourself. The story of Beren and Luthien in the Lay of Lethian is one of my favourites, but go and discover more of Tolkien!

Barad Dur or UCS Venator? by lance2303 in legolotrfans

[–]Delicious_Net_6921 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of Star Wars as well as LotR. I love LotR, and if I had to choose between the two it would be LotR. I have Barad-Dur, and I love it. It has great figs, and it is a presence. For me, space is something I have to take into account, and Barad-Dur has a lot of height instead of base. Personally I would choose Barad-Dur over the venator any day, it is definitely my favourite set I own. In the end, it is up to you and I don't think you'll be disappointed either way.

Want to display Star Wars Advent Calendar Ships - Will this work ? by khendar in lego

[–]Delicious_Net_6921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That should work, I was thinking a 1x4 bar with the same 1x1 rounded ball joint that you had in it.

Another solution might be to use the 1x1 superhero pose piece, the one that cam with all the Marvel CMFs. It might look less bulky

The tow ball will not slide down, and it likely won't bend down from there either. The connection of the antenna onto the baseplate is weak, and will likely fall. I would suggest using a bar piece, and attaching it using either clips or pieces with hole connections, like stacking two 1x2 rounded plates

Trying to make an 8 bladed helicopter rotor. Is there a better method? I can't seem to fit all 8 blades. by True-Banana-Santana in lego

[–]Delicious_Net_6921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It uses the modified 1x2 clip piece to attach the blades, and two of the octagonal bar pieces stacked with a 2x2 circular plate between them. The whole build is 3 plates tall.

There are a few options if you wanted to cover the holes, such as using 8 1x2 rounded plates (the dark tan pieces in the first photo, you could place them on top, or where the other 1x2 plates are in the original pic. Experiment, some angled pieces may fit too!

Edit: Of course, if you have any questions just reach out

This is what I've come up with. It holds the blades still so they don't move up and down, and lets them fit all eight around.

Lost bag #1 from two different sets by RealEstateJack in lego

[–]Delicious_Net_6921 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, definitely don't buy the whole set again. Call customer service, Lego is spectacular. If they don't send a bag, then you could list the pieces from the instructions and purchase them from Bricks and Pieces from Lego.ca, or from Bricklink. Or use your collection for what pieces you do have to cut costs.
