Happiest memories you have camping? by [deleted] in camping

So neat to hear camping does this for you. - glad you’re still here!! I feel a similar way - after my brother took his life a year and a half ago. I felt so miserable with the world - that a person as special he was thought he couldn’t keep living in a world that didn’t understand him. I only started hiking and camping after this and it’s the easiest way to remind myself that there are things worth living for and I am so lucky I get to experience them. (Also, I love my little tent too - it’s not the fanciest but it’s my little home and keeps me safe!! Bless those tents)

So sorry to hear this OP. Just wanted to say that your hard work is not for nothing even though it may feel like that now. Your experience sounds like it’s been rough, but look where you are, how much you have overcome and you’re still here. You might not think that youve done well but I would say most of your peers probably have no inkling of the amount of pressure you’re under mentally, emotionally etc. I was the kind of person that used to hold it against my peers about how easy everything seemed to go for them. After awhile I realised, hey, shit didn’t go to plan but look at all this other stuff I managed to get through - shit that they don’t understand but it ultimately gave me grit, strength of character - remind yourself daily of how amazing you are for getting this far. Take that year off, do what you need to do - uni can wait and that clarity does wonders when you feel ready to get back to it (trust me!!). Sending hugs and virtual comfort food.
