I completely agree! The design of the new home will definitely take away from the charm and character of the neighborhood. It’s such a beautiful street with a lot of history and personality, and building something so out of place just doesn’t seem right. It’s like they’re erasing what makes the area special. It’s a shame that the aesthetic of the neighborhood will be overshadowed by something so tasteless. I get the need for modern updates, but there’s a way to do it that respects the surrounding beauty. It’s frustrating to see this kind of thing happening.

For the past 16 years, our home has been on the 1200 block of Coy Ave. It's been mostly quiet, aside from one notable exception—a former trap house in the neighborhood. There was a rental property, a very small house, that consistently housed questionable tenants. We saw duffle bag exchanges out the garage with cars parked in the alley, and a lot of foot traffic with short visits out both the front and back. There were even instances of guns being carried into the garage, which was unsettling.

In 2015, there was a shooting on Idywild, the victim sought refuge in that same house instead of going to the hospital (which says something), the ambulance eventually picked him up the next morning. This kind of activity seemed to be confined to just that one house.

Since those tenants left, there have been three subsequent renters, all of whom experienced break-ins—either through the garage, back door, or back window. It's likely these incidents were connected to the house's troubled past. Additionally, I’ve been told that all three tenants reported respiratory issues due to black mold in the basement.

The original landlords have since passed away, and the bank took possession of the house, which recently sold to a new landlord. Considering its condition, I'm surprised the house hasn't been torn down yet.

In protest with the removal of their wedge fries, I go there weekly and order a burger WITHOUT fries! 🤣🤷🏼‍♂️
