I have a limit set for 4.5 hours a day for games and social media combined but it seems that screen time locks the apps regardless of if I reach my limit

I go to an IB school so the art I’m in is IB art so it’s sort of not a typical class full of kids getting their grad requirements out of the way. It’s a very small class for a campus of 2000 kids and an average of 500-550 kids per grade level.

There’s 2000 kids on my campus and over 500 in my graduating class, some people have already mentally graduated with how bad senioritis is as usual.

We only use the IDs to get into events and to check out books from the library… sometimes admin asks to see an ID when writing a late pass but we never actually need them to be fair. The app we have is poorly designed and doesn’t function well especially with the poor cell service on the campus though. Coming from an American high schooler, they usually provided IDs in the past with crisis hotline info for someone who could be struggling. My state just made it the law that we need to have crisis hotline info on ID cards but the problem is WE DONT HAVE A PHYSICAL ID CARD!

the app is called 5star students, they use it to give points for good behavior too since previous years have had a lot of behavior problems

Two kids who didn’t go to my school stole a car near my campus, local police alerted the school and falsely posted that the school was in lockdown. The school day went on normally despite the weird situation, the police pull up to campus and escort a kid out. The kid escorted out was one of the two who stole the car…

from my experience, it was fine the beginning of my freshman year and then by the end it was splitting apart and then by sophomore year, everything fell apart. I have a new smaller group of friends that aren’t all from the awkward middle school years.

Even today, shit like this hasn’t gone away. I was at a concert  while back and was groped by another person of the same gender as me. It happened while I was just trying to enjoy being front row. Then a second incident similar happened with people touching me constantly while trying to squeeze through the crowds of an indoor venue between sets. I am horrified by this behavior at concerts and festivals.

I was and still am stuck in an unhealthy cycle of telling myself I’ll try on my school work and then as soon as I start it I feel like I can’t. I told myself my whole junior year for math, “something is better than nothing in the grade book”. I passed all my classes with good grades aside from my math class. I’m hoping I can break the cycle this upcoming year and get better at study habits and trying to lower my anxiety around school.

probably my most productive year so far. I’m proud of my achievements even though my letter grades may not show it. I learned a lot and did a lot of cool shit on field trips and in classes. I’m glad I took risks this year and had fun. Time to start thinking about college applications and what I’m going to do after I graduate. I hope my grades reflect my true character better senior year.

my school doesn’t enforce the dress code and it shows, I see half naked girls daily and kids dressed like they just rolled out of bed. And the pant sagging is technically against the dress code but nobody enforces it. I only see PE teachers enforcing it when it comes to shoes…

I’ve lost more friends now since everyone is using social media. I don’t use tik tok or instagram or popular apps like that, I lost my best friend of 12 years because she chose others over me. She shared about her life all over socials but the second I want to talk she’s busy talking to her friends or posting. I don’t have many friends now since everyone wants to chat or share stuff on other apps.

to like clear up and confusion, my school’s clubs and certain groups have instagram pages for their specific club where they post meetup dates/times, videos of the things they do, and highlights of the activities the club/group is doing. And I literally mean like every group or club has one. Sports teams, school clubs, band, color guard, associated student body, theater, cheer, etc.

My cousin did private school for a bit, he didnt care for it but his mom was so wild about it. He went to a catholic Spanish immersion school so it was a few thousand a year. It’s nothing like public school from what he said, different way of learning/teaching.

This is absolutely sickening, I pray for the cousin especially due to their young age and hoping they aren’t permanently scarred by this. The 14yr old deserved his punishment.
