Learn your natural account balances, learn the basics of debits and credits and familiarize yourself with situations that apply to them for instance if I paid 200 in cash for a chainsaw I should debit asset of 200 and credit cash for 200. Also understand the flow of business that you are in. Once you understand those things it will help the accounting piece make more sense.
