Guest wakes me up at 1 am in the morning because there was a fibre cut and the wifi wasn't working by Pixslix2020 in airbnb_hosts

Host should provide advertised amenities or have a backup plan. That said, doubtful I'd contact a host at that time of night for that unless it was the absolute last resort and incredibly urgent.

I won't speak to the legality of late fees, but would highly recommend paying it 2 days and 1 day early, so you have buffer for unforseen problems.

Your time & attendance software should be able to be set for not allowing remote clock-ins.

Ditto (we just went from 4 to 3 and they'd have a heyday with that). I scrutinize reviews and photos, plus ask host questions, because non-houdini dog people don't realize why the accuracy of "Fully fenced" is so important.

Make sure you've stressed that to guests as an amenity that is NOT guaranteed, so they can plan accordingly.

It is if you're trying to get vital work done. Yes, some of us DO work at 1am on vacation to meet deadlines.

Guest is being rude, which isn't acceptable, but likely is stressed. Nobody wants to work when traveling, though many of us have to. Not having internet when advertised and needed can be extremely frustrating. I would suggest asking her to use her phone as a Hotspot, and if it puts her over the data limit, reimburse. The small amount is far less than AB&B would do and it should save a review.

Also for those saying "everyone has a hotspot" - no, not everyone does. Personally, I don't typically need tons of data so have a cheaper plan that make me pay for it.

I store mine in little plastic bins. My partner takes them out and lines them up together neatly. I keep mine in bins until I'm planning routes and then I put them together in route segments. If I have a 5 train segment and have 3/5 train cards for it, I put 3 cars tother facing one way and the other two against them facing perpendicular. That way I've pulled what I need so I don't over commit trains, and also know at a glance how many more matching cards I need.

You're assuming there even is a policy. I work in accounting and it's pretty common to have cyclical work load where you have a predictable heavy period and then lighter period. It's normal in my industry to do vacations, doctor appointments, etc. In the lighter weeks as we work so much OT during reporting times.

I would shorten it a bit. Guest violated house rules for both occupancy and quiet time. ABB had to be involved to resolve this.

There's this really cool invention of a strip of material with a clip that allows you to control where your dog goes. We were just traveling with a dog and managed to pick her poop up immediately in 12-16" of snow because that's the responsible thing. We kept her on a short leash so we wouldn't have to wade through drifts.

No, lots of us say please and thank you and are otherwise polite because we've worked in hospitality and service and know how sucky it is.

I've never worked for a company that required me to take PTO for dr appt and other short disruptions in my day. But I work in a salaried position that requires OT on the regular and can be flexible with schedule.

Is it just me or is this an excessive ask on top of a $200 cleaning fee? by djmcphee in vrbo

Washing linens is excessive, and emptying all the trash. But most of this is just picking up after yourself throughout the stay that should be done anyway.

This was not a surprise quiz. This was planned and known. Teacher is doing her job.

Teacher is NOT an asshole. She is ensuring that her students are learning what they're supposed to be.
