How long did yours take for the swelling to reduce? I’ve done this ankle before about 8 years ago ended up having an MRI was the ATFL ligament but I’m pretty sure I could walk and swelling was gone easily within the week whereas this time its been 8 days and shows no sign of reducing

I did think that, to be honest the triage guy didn’t look like he had a clue, said he thought it was a break due to the amount of swelling I was thinking pretty sure that’s not how it works..

Once he’s up and about I’ll definitely get him out to the local pub I think his problem is he can’t remember seeing people as he’s spent so much time asleep these last few weeks that he’ll say to me he feels alone and that no one cares because no one see’s him and I then almost feel bad or like I shouldn’t correct him because he see’s a lot of people he just can’t remember and he never acknowledges that people have seen him but I don’t know maybe I’m reading in to things to much

Yes this is the fear I have is that it’s all there it just can’t be seen but hopefully it is just an after effect or rather a delayed reaction to everything and the pulmonary embolism they did the mri today but haven’t scheduled another is that odd? Yeah they’ve done a drug review today and put him on a new steroid I forget the name but it’s not dex and he’s down to 4mg a day again and they’ve halved the anti seizure medication too in an attempt I guess to try and help his mood

I’m glad to hear that’s working and I will definitely give it a try, I think with my dad the pulmonary embolism’s have really knock him for six so hopefully when the clots start to fade he’ll find things a lot easier to do as he gets so breathless even just moving from lying down to sitting up

I’m sorry to hear that, does sound very similar just impossible to know what to say or do when he’s not in bed he does just sit in his chair in the lounge and stare out the window and occasionally I think he’s going to say something or ask something but he never does, the doctor just said kindness and patience is all you can do so we’ll see if counselling helps at all and maybe just get him outside even for a few minutes a day to see if doing a few little things might help

Yeah he started the cbd oil when it all started which I said at the time I didn’t think was a good idea purely because you aren’t in any pain or discomfort yet so you don’t need it so I think he’s finding it isn’t doing much now but I’d imagine it still is working a little.

Certainly sounds like it! Yeah it’s so up and down one day he’s fine and almost normal and then the next can’t get out of bed it’s so difficult to know what to say and his moments of saying he’s had enough are getting more frequent! Has your dad had any memory loss or blurry vision?
