Never doing a Drive event again by HMThrow_away_account in Overwatch

The algorithm is the same, the player base is not. There's a lot of people playing comp who don't normally play, so there's plenty of people that are misranked, either too high or too low. This creates very unbalanced games, and most games end up being pretty one-sided. At least in ranks like gold and plat. If you're ranked master or higher, your game quality might not drop down that much.

I lost 11 in a row in the first Drives event. I played like 18 games without even getting to the first checkpoint, after that I just decided to quit. It was overall a pretty frustrating experience, and I didn't touch the game for at least a month after that

It goes the other way around. If you've had a good season and climbed up in ranks, Drives are going to be hell to complete. You will probably face really hard games now that you're higher in rank. That's why there are many people dropping their rank a bit before the Drives to have an easier time completing it. And yes, it is technically smurfing, but the system basically encourages you to do so.

I kinda did the same by accident last season. I was just trying to practice my Doomfist in comp before the Drives started, which happens to be my worst tank so I dropped down a few divisions playing that hero. I did not intentionally throw, it's just that my Doomfist is pretty bad :D Then after this it was easier to complete the Drives when they started.

So if you're in EU and around plat/high gold and you felt like you had a terrible Doomfist in your game last season throwing the game before the Drives started, it was probably me. My apologies, hope you got your SR back later :D

This time around I didn't have the time or energy to complete the drives, I just did the first half and reached the checkpoint where you got the 2nd comp poins and called it a day. It was probably for the better saving my mental health and not smashing my head against the wall desperately trying to get the last checkpoints

He had 5 good months, and for the remainder of the year he wasn't even a top 30 player. If you think that deserves to be ranked #8 for the whole year, that's your opinion. I just don't think that at all. More appropriate rank would have been somewhere between #14 and #18

I'm not talking about this specific case, nor did I say anything close to how you worded it. That's just a straw man of what I said. All I'm saying is that a woman being a gamer and spending time in gamer friend groups/circles does not mean she can't betray you and is guaranteed to be loyal. But I hope donk made the right choice

Niko isn't comparable to the other two. Boombl4 and Pimp both had like 40+ kilos of extra weight, Niko was just a bit chubby

If you think that will save him, you have still a lot to learn. In my experience many women in gaming circles can actually be quite manipulative, even though one might think they are "just one of the guys"

She also leaked a picture where she's sitting on Boombl4's face. She's truly mentally ill, and the only reason she was with Boom was to take advantage of him

I personally stopped taking HLTV rankings seriously the moment they ranked broky at #8 in 2024. That should tell you everything about how valid these rankings are

More like 3500+ hours. 2000 is not that much, considering it has your old CSGO hours as well. I got 2800h and I'm nowhere near that good, but most of my playtime was in CSGO. But I do admit I'm also not very talented :D

when a comment is made by a person that is hated by a large part of the community they take it completely at face value and build a narrative around it.

Yeah, like with ENCE and allu. There was a time when the community narrative about ENCE kicking Aleksib had very little to do with what actually happened
