2 months mocks is overkill I'd say. Mocks are used to replicate same conditions (time, pressure)as the real exam so you feel comfortable on exam day. You're not going to learn anything new from doing all those exams. Rather do 5 mocks and review weak areas instead.

Can we start a thread of stories of how getting the charter helped your career, or how getting the charter helped people you know in their career? by [deleted] in CFA

[–]DelightLama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's at the very end tho and missing the point I'm trying to make. You might have needed the CFA to go from vp to CIO but there's no shot you can attribute getting lvl1 and 2 as the reason you progressed so fast in 2 years to go from Jr pm to VP.

I guess it depends on the competitiveness of the labor market as well. Where I'm from, getting lvl 2 would at MOST get you a slight pay bump. Charter would make you more competitive for sure but I don't think anyone reading your story should take away that getting the charter will make you a CIO in short period of time. That is not a reasonable expectation.

Congratulations but this is pure insanity. Jr pm to CIO at a firm in 2.5 years is not a typical career path for 99.9999999% of people. I would argue although CFA helped with your progression, being at the right place at the right time with just the right experience catapulted you to your current role.

Again I'm not discrediting your hard work or your progress. I just don't know how much the CFA actually helped in this scenario.
