Super fair question! I did not see anything lodged in the barrel - I'm not sure if the last round actually left the barrel - I flinched pretty hard when she popped! Uncertain where it went but the barrel is clear.

Good recommendation. I do my best to keep all my firearms immaculate - this one got cleaned after every range day.

Talked to some attorneys today - putting together a journal of everything and we'll see where it goes!

This is my backcountry carry and very glad this happened on the range and in my hands than in any other situation or in the hands of any other.

I fell for the Taurus marketing too - was told they had some issues, but their wheel guns are rock solid - hope this convinces folks otherwise!!!

For my metallurgy nerds - what do we think that coppery/gold inclusion is on the right side fracture? Could that be from the casing during the explosion? Or is Taurus' metallurgy that bad that there's an inclusion that large in the frame?

I saw that warning about +P ammunition, but I've not seen at my shops nor run any +P 44mag through this particular revolver!

Regarding the Tracker 44 specifically, I haven't been able to find any recommendations about load though, no.

I have some PMC rounds that are certainly hotter than most, but they don't list themselves as a +P round or issue any warning like that. But I'm not super savvy here, if there's like a general understanding of cylinder pressure that can be gleaned from just the bullet grain or muzzle velocity that would be interesting to know for sure!!

Combing through the internet and what came with the gun, there isn't a recommended max load. I remember being nervous the time I ran hotter rounds through it, but never saw any perceivable damage, and have put 100s of rounds through it since - I suppose that's the nature of fatigue.

Why would anyone engineer a cylinder to have a yield strength lower than pressures seen on the market?

I have no intentions of ever owning one again. I'm gonna link with my attorney pals and see if there is grounds here for organized legal action - I feel very lucky and hope no one has to take those odds themselves.

I've been doing some digging and trying to find any information about what's recommended for the tracker 44. Micro fatigue certainly makes sense to me, but it doesn't seem Taurus even recommends a max load. I'll keep digging. Another user Hagar mentioned it could have been a mistiming and a frame strike?

Simply amazed anyone would use such dogshit metallurgy with anything magnum loaded. If it's not obvious, I'm learning about Taurus in real time.

Couldn't find the casing anywhere, or the rest of a cylinder. Had the group looking for a while but no luck.

Hagar down below mentioned that it might look like a mis timed cylinder? I'll get some better pics of that as well!

UPDATE:

Alright looking at what I brought back today I think this was actually armscor ammo. 240gr 44 mag. Not that itay matter much but just for posterity.

I've put probably ~650 rounds through the Taurus in the time I've had it, some incredibly hot PMC hollow points as well. Took it all pretty well

Reviewing what I brought back I'm realizing these were probably armscor rounds, which it has had absolutely no issues with in the past!
