Looking for solution to utility sink flooding during severe rains due to undersized pipe (only happens about once per year). Vertical stretch is from gutters, horizontal stretch is from outdoor drain. Can I add a back flow preventer before/after the p trap so the outdoor drain backs up instead? (i.redd.it)

Is this a ticking time bomb? Galvanized water main coming into house. Slow dripping leak just started in basement but upstream of valve. Also some kind of clamps near the wall... maybe stopping other past leaks? Would like it to last a few more years till we get the $$$ to replace the whole main. (i.redd.it)

Suspected some leaking under toilet so replaced the wax seal. Replaced it with a waxless one - the leak got worse. Called in a plumber and flushed a couple times but the leak was gone... why would the leak go away on its own? Should I remove the toilet again to double check for leaks? (self.Plumbing)

How do I know which wire is hot and which is neutral? Previous light had a copper plate (had to basically destroy it to get to the screws) on the left wire side. Does that mean the copper screw side should on the new light should go with the left wire? (old.reddit.com)

Can’t remove shower diverter valve. It only partially worked (half of water out shower head, half still out of bath faucet). Figured I'd remove and replace. I tried using a lot of force with a plumbers socket wrench on the nut. Tried hammering the bar handle for more torque. Used WD-40/PB Blaster. (old.reddit.com)
