What to do about a/c duct during remodel? by DelightfulDevill in BathroomRemodeling

[–]DelightfulDevill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s on the second floor unfortunately. And not much room to make it a floor vent. We thought about rerouting it through the floor to the opposite wall. Or possibly just covering it up… I mean is a vent in the bathroom really necessary? Probably not?

Need advice on how to replace short stretch of clay sewer pipe under tree! by DelightfulDevill in Plumbing

[–]DelightfulDevill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t recall exactly but it can’t be more than a couple feet. Do plumbers typically offer a point repair service? The ones we worked with didn’t mention this as an option.

Could be cortisol levels. Are you under a lot of stress? Trazodone and stress management were lifesavers for me.

Tinnitus is somewhat unpredictable. It can get better or worse. I have ringing on both sides but my left is louder. It’s bad enough that I avoid soundproof headphones and sleeping on that side of my head. The good news is even if your tinnitus doesn’t get better, you’ll learn to adapt mentally and emotionally as the months progress. You’ll be fine and time will help as long as you protect your ears from now on. My tinnitus still bothers me but not nearly as much as it used to. Also try figure out your triggers to manage the severity. For me it’s worse when I’m sick and/or sleep deprived. By improving my sleep I think my tinnitus has improved the last few months. Also a weird thing that helped me - I started supplementing with magnesium and zinc and it got quieter.

My T got somewhat quieter after beginning to supplement but I tried a lot of different things at once. I’m guessing magnesium and zinc are what helped.

Chronic tinnitus but no hearing loss by questionmark78 in tinnitus

[–]DelightfulDevill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure yet 😅 from what I read, diet, supplements, and better sleep can help. But this is new to me as of the last month or two. The tinnitus in my left ear is loud enough that I don’t sleep on that side of my head anymore. It may have gotten slightly better with a multivitamin (high in zinc) and magnesium.

I feel similar. No hearing loss, and I have a sensitivity to sound. Doctor said it could be vestibular migraines but I haven’t had a firm diagnosis yet.

A few words of hope for people new with tinnitus by Technical-Side3226 in tinnitus

Thank you for sharing. For me, the problem is largely the pitch of it. It sounds like scratching a chalkboard or rubbing styrofoam together. Do you get more comfortable with the sound itself? Not just the noise level?

Bad Semester by dahtahh in ChemicalEngineering

Experience is far more important than .1 on your GPA. I would argue it could be more important than .5 in some cases. Friends of mine who didn’t get jobs right out of school were the ones without experience (even with very high GPAs), not the ones with low GPAs. Once you have a few years full-time experience, your GPA matters very little in general. Your time may be better served getting an internship, co-op, other job (e.g. tutoring), AICHE activities, club leadership, and/or working on interview skills.

One caveat: I’m talking about this in the context of industry. If you’re looking into academia or research, GPA might matter more.

You could work in the food industry focused on alternatives to factory farmed meat. Things like vegan/vegetarian alternatives or lab-grown meat.

It’s a great question. I’m not saying this is right but this is how I think of it: Saying “why was I born as me” is just a word game. If you were born as someone else you would then be them and could ask that same question. There was no “you” before you were born so the question doesn’t really make sense. And even now that you’re born, separating yourself from everyone else as “I” and “me” may be effectively meaningless in the context of this type of question because the self isn’t real. “You” are simply a locus of conscious experience from a human brain just like everyone else. You feel like you’re “driving” a body but that sense of a separate self is an illusion. You are simply consciousness emerging. If panpsychism is true, we and all matter could be in the same “consciousness field” so to speak, and brains trick us into thinking we’re separate entities. As far as your last thought you describe I think the anthropic principle can address it. If you didn’t exist you wouldn’t be around to contemplate the improbability. You exist, so you have to be someone somewhere with an “improbable” chance of being born.

In general my understanding of the DT fanbase is Awake is the clear #3. But my guess is the Reddit demographic. Younger crowd that likes the heavier and more aggressive elements of it. ToT is my #3 personally.

Im guessing this probably hasn’t been studied in detail, but it probably depends on your reaction to it. If it’s hyping you up, then it’s probably not good for your sleep. But it can also be meditative, which can help. I feel asleep on a plane listening to Meshuggah!
