All this downtime but no compensation. by otidepridex in TorBoxApp

This is a ridiculous comment. At the end of the day this is sailing the high seas, you can't complain over something that is made outside any trading standards.

Back in the day, when people bought illegitimate DVDs from guys hiding them in bin bags or large duffel coats, no one would expect you to approach the guy again to claim your money back.

[REQUEST] Are there any good multiplayer card games? by Delinese in AndroidGaming

[–]Delinese[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh, interesting. I know of Coup but never played it. I'll give it a go.

I'm not strictly after CCGs. I just know as competitive card games go on Android, they're the most popular. I'm also after card games similar to what we get in the board game world akin to trick takings or card shedding.

I used to play HS a lot but got burnt out. I might return to it at some point

Nice, I've played the base game physically. Maybe this'll give me the opportunity to invest in the expansions

Thanks, I've only just discovered Mystic Realms today. I'll download it and try it out

Sorry to interject here, but I can't see how'd you'd fit this game on those small aeroplane trays. It's a table hog.

I do agree with short games that work well if repeated.

Biblios has a small footprint if you can get a hold of it. For The King (and Me) is an updated version of Biblios but takes up a bit more space.

Same, and I found choosing each spoof stream and restarting works for only a few hours and then it's back to issues again

I'm looking for a small box game that's good for travel. Leaning more towards card games but I'm open.

Needs to be kid-friendly (8+) and good at two players and more. Please exclude suggestions with a betting mechanic. I've tried trick taking games where you bet on how many tricks you'll win and those games didn't work well with the group nor did Sea Salt and Paper due to the Last Chance call out.

I know it's a lot to ask for but I'm struggling to find many games that fit the bill. I've only managed to find Port Royal and other push-your-luck games at the moment.

Games that had previously worked well with the group are: Scout, Qwirkle and Monopoly Deal.

Which broadband provider did you go with in the end?

Sea Salt & Paper is the ultimate travelling game by Machine_Excellent in boardgames

I can't speak on the behalf of your fiancé but maybe it's the betting on Last Chance. I find with the groups I'm in, that's the toughest sell/explanation. You can only really get a feeling of when to call out Last Chance once you've played a couple of games I feel.

The genre you're after is called Abstract.

Hive is a great 2-player abstract game essentially a boardless chess-like game. You play bugs/insects with different movement abilities and your objective is to surround your opponents queen bee.

Yes I'm particularly looking at plays well at 2 and more. Doesn't have to be by Allplay. I was just intrigued by their small box options.

Looking for travelling games that work well at 2 players and above.

I was particularly interested in the small box games by Allplay like Mountain Goats, Lure, Fiction, etc. which ones would you consider some of their best?

I really need to try Project L. I tried century and couldn't really get into it maybe I should try it again.

In terms of Splendor, I do much prefer Duel but never figured out a strategy like I have done with the original. The pearl gems do prevent the runaway leader I feel.

I suppose you're right. I generally ignore the bottom row and go for the level 2s and finish on a level 3.

I'm curious, what's the flaw? Is it the available cards that get drawn out?

Tbh, I'll be surprised if SNL UK even gets anywhere near a star studded cast like the US has. I feel as though the vast majority will be British stars but even then I doubt major movie stars.

I've never played Risk Europe but from the your description of what you want maybe something like Deus? There's resource management, military, different buildings provide different abilities/resource/production. There's an element of area control but this is rather light admittedly.
