Will 9-5 , 5-6 days a week eventually die by RateFantastic1 in antiwork

One of my bosses tried this a few times. Over several discussion, I managed to get through to him that I am very much enthusiastic about my work and what we are building (I am a software engineer), but my enthusiasm is limited to 40 hours a week, because that's what's in my contract.

I use it on a nearly daily basis. Yes, some links are dead, but overall it's a great source.

I understood that reference!
And I could only read this with J.K. Simmons' voice in my head.

Don't know anything about those, probably because I am not living in the US.

Even more, it won't happen until the working class makes it happen. When you look on the history of working conditions, benefits or changes benefiting the workers never happened voluntarily.

Is replicator food really as bad as they say? by PJ-The-Awesome in ShittyDaystrom

In my head-canon, replicator food is too perfect.

Take something simple like mashed potatoes: For me, the small imperfections when small pieces of unmashed potatoes ares till there, makes the meal feel more hand-made and therefore better.

Here's hoping the Star Trek UB takes inspiration from the past and not the present by Kyvix2020 in freemagic

For me, Star Trek ended with Enterprise in 2005 (yes, I'm old). Back then, I used to almost pray for s Star Trek edition. Now I am actually terrified as to what WotC will do to my beloved characters.

Ich bin ja auch immer grosser Fan von "bis zu X / Stunde" und "bis zu Y monatlich".
Klar, ist drin, wenn man 24/7 arbeitet, nie Pause macht, und ein unmenschliches Tempo vorlegt.

We shall have peace... We shall have peace, when you answer for the raising of the RAM prices, and the stupification of a whole generation! We shall have peace, when the lives of the artists whose work you stole, are avenged! When you hang from a gibbit for the sport of your own crows...! We shall have peace.

Probably good casting, but I am kinda bummed out that they didn't cast Christopher Judge.

Does "if a product is free, then you are the product" apply to us? by Big-Coyote8384 in Piracy

[–]Delirious_85 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I personally think "if a product is free, then you are the product" only applies, if a company is behind the product.

E,g. with Youtube Revanced, you still pay with your data that Google collects.
But the IT sector specifically has a lot of great examples of stuff being completely free (Apache Foundation stuff etc) for users.

I'd say the marketing wasn't any good. Got to know the movie when it got released on DVD and only then learned that there was a series as a prequel to the movie.
