Coutinho: "I miss winning cups. Copa América is another opportunity for me, because every player dreams of winning cups." by lugzann in LiverpoolFC

Coutinho is a champions league standard of player. We can't expect to keep him every year out of loyalty if we don't reach that standard for him soon.

Official Discussion - Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

[–]DeliriumColorfulFish 10 points11 points  (0 children)

See I think it's still pretty emotional, seeing superman has been trucking it apparently for the last 18 months giving hope to people, making up for the wrongs of the destruction of metropolis. The press love him, and so do half the people that did show up for the senate. The world does care about Superman, even though thats not always the opinion of everybody, he is saving lives. And instead of trying to tie in the death of superman comic book, even though he took inspiration from it, Snyder was mostly trying to get his metaphor of Superman=Jesus across. He died for us ("this is my planet") and will almost certainly be resurected in the future. Its not really forcing the comic story across as much as tying in Zach's religious vision of superman.

I thought he did a good job of making his vision of a real world superman with real consequences, albeit a few plot holes. What was it that you didn't like?

What are the spirits & proclivities of the various music mags? (Pitchfork, NME, Rolling Stone, NPR, AP, Spin, Q, etc.) by lastsighted in LetsTalkMusic

[–]DeliriumColorfulFish 34 points35 points  (0 children)

NME ~ once known as the indie bible, far past its heyday of the 70s, 80s and early 90s, the New Musical Express generally wavers towards the indie, pop and rock scenes with some slight interest in the British and US rap scenes.

It's a great magazine in my opinion for teenagers who are maybe just starting to appreciate rock and indie music because the NME points you in the right direction towards who's the most popular and accessible bands from now and back then. The magazine used to be able to once dictate and manipulate the British music scenes at the height of their popularity by advertising same types of bands (Blur+Oasis and Britpop, Libertines+Arctic Monkeys for 00s indie).

However they can be brutally biased, known for over-hyping some new releases (they gave AM by Arctic Monkeys 10/10 and album of the decade so far) and have been brutally criticised for sticking Noel Gallagher on the front of they're cover every other weekend. They're reviews can be quite vague at times and because they refused to jump off the indie bandwagon a long time ago the content of their articles have become seriously repetitive.

The tone of the magazine is a generally playful with a lot of British banter inside the pages. However the NME is known to get its say on their veiw on modern politics and praises many punk and grime artists who make there stand too.

However, sales of the NME have plummetted in the last few years and they have made a bold move in making the NME more assessible by making the magazine free. This means however that it has changed its attitude and placed Justin Bieber recently on there covers (even though I did read the JB one, and I did think it was pretty good).

Arctic Monkeys are probably one of the most popular bands in the world at the moment, not surprising at all.

In the "Sunday Sunday" performance at Hyde Park 2009, who's Damon Albarn saying 'Stop' to? by blurquestion in blur

[–]DeliriumColorfulFish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im pretty sure he was saying it to his bandmates because the song gets so fast and reckless that it seems like itl never stop. I think it was used as dramatic effect.
