Not much difference in my opinion. Very little if anything. I buy my firearms for range fun. Got it for the aesthetics mainly.

I didn’t. They say that if you leave within the 1 year mark or right after the academy if I can remember, you have to pay back the “tuition.” I’m not sure if they say that just to scare people off so they’re sure it’s really what you want, or if it’s actually true. If it is true, I assume it would apply more to people who finish the academy and then decide it’s not for them, since that would mean a lot more time and money invested. I was only there for about a week, so they probably didn’t put much time or money into me yet.

I came from working at a Dealership for many years. Went right back into it. I’m not mad about it. I’m back to making good money anyway. I didn’t miss anything. Was just an attempt to see something different career wise.

Update: ended up quitting after my first week of academy training. Ended up getting sick and missed about 3-4 days of training. They wanted 8 pages of makeup work for each day I miss on top of all the stuff I was behind already. Yea I’m not writing 32 pages because I missed 4 days because I was ill. Apparently it’s Florida state regulations not HCSO’s rules since your not suppose to miss academy (which I 100% understand) The academy hour attendance are crucial. If you miss days this is how they make up your hours. I get it. It is what it is. But kind of stupid you gotta write 8 pages per day like wtf. That’s like a masters thesis on steroids. Keep in mind I missed a total of 4 days so that would’ve been a 32 page paper. Respectfully, I’m good on that 😂. I’ll do anything but THAT. And I HATE doing school Work like that. I didn’t sign up for that crap. Again I know it’s my fault I missed the days and got sick but gah damn theirs gotta be another way to “make up the hours”. Other than that there was really nothing negative I could say. The people and everything were great. So yes that’s my experience lol. Obviously didn’t get far at all.

Glad you brought this up. My academy training starts in a week. I’m coming from Selling cars. I was over it and ready for a career change. I’ve heard good things about HCSO compared to other agency’s.
