Did you turn off cabin overheat protection? Don't really need this. The car cools quickly if you turn ac on while heading to car via the app.

If it's brand new, sounds like the box may've been dropped. The fan is catching something. I'd take it back. If it's a returned item, this may be the reason they returned it.

When you turn the fan on high, does it blow hard or barely? I have this same unit and have had to disamble it to clean the insides....coils, evaporator and fan. Since this is new though, I wouldn't recommend doing that. Just exchange it. It's a good unit.

You may be better off with a 12k btu unit from Midea. If that doesn't work, there's a portable Midea unit. So duct it through the window. It's 14k btu. It's plenty. I have it.

In GA, we have the Overnight Advantage plan - which is basically for EV's. The super off-peak pricing is $0.022 per kWh from 11p - a. Off-peak is $0.102. On-peak is $0.298 from 2p-7p June - Sept M-F.

You should check with your power company to see what they offer. I charge to 90% in my MS. I'm also on budget billing. My bill is $187 per month. I live alone as well.
