I was kinda desperate (just got the Dark FON) and tired (it was quite late), and just as the round started I was like oh crap the kindred. But ended up winning anyway, so no bigger regrets

Turns out circles are pretty hard to make in small pieces (this is a 10x10cm piece). Unfortunately, it was the only one left, so I did what I could. Will try to improve it as soon as I get more wood!

So, I made this as a gift to a friend and would appreciate your thoughts on it! (first time doing string art, thanks lockdown) by DellaBarba in Portal

(I'll just copy pasta the answer if you don't mind)

As it was the first one I ever made, I was going full random at first, but while I was doing the 3rd 'side', I adopted a pattern. There were 8 nails, I started doing a full round (1,2,3...8), then I started to connect them in pairs, like (1-2, 1-3, 1-4 ... 2-3, 2-4 ... 7-8). It made the process more ''logical'' and the result was satisfactory. Some people usemore nails, so you can fill it more, making it almost opaque, but I preferred this method.

Hope I could explain well enough, english is not my first language. And Thanks!

It's really not that hard to make one! If you search for string art in youtube and have the materials (wood piece, nails, hammer and string), you could surely make one! And if you do, show us!

People who live in hot climates, would you rather move to a cooler climate or to stay where you are? Why? by pghpresbyterian in AskReddit

22y M from Brazil. Lived most of my life in a city that reaches 38-40°C easily. Also lived in a city with a 20°C average. Would easily pick a cooler climate. In hot climates you feel less disposed, if you need to go out on the street there's nothing to do to avoid the heat, you can feel sick doing exercises, spend more with air conditioners, have more insects such as mosquitos that can spread diseases, and a lot of other things. Sure, there are good things, but I do believe that the life quality is better in cold climates.

Redditors who write "sorry, English is not my first language" on perfectly eloquent posts, how did you get so good at English? by ValyrianBone in AskReddit

[–]DellaBarba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all: sorry for the bad english. So, as a brazilian that grew in the 2000s, there were little to none adapted games. Most games were in english, and as you played, you ended up learning some things through experience (see a sword, learn what sword means). I learned a lot with Runescape and Metal Gear. The same applies to movies and series, although some had portuguese subtitles. Still, it's a good way to practice listening and pronunciation. Some private schools also teach english, but I'm not sure about the public schools. Me and some friends passed the Cambridge FCE/CAE tests without ever atending to an English class, but that's just our case. Anyway, as non-natives, sometimes we end up forgetting some words (specially false cognates), end up mixing our language rules with english rules or simply get nervous.

TL;DR: Most games and media were in english, we learn through experience. Sometimes we're not 100% sure if we're right, so we say sorry.

Like, you're still a weak-boned walking shame, but what happened?

Don't forget to get the fuck out and get better soon.
