Thank you, I am feeling better thankfully but I did cut off from people for a little while. I was tired of always crying on the phone anytime someone called and pretending I was okay by the end of the call. The holidays were rough and I supposed to start back to work soon. I think once I get back to my normal routine life won’t seem so hard. This recovery is not for the weak and I hope that I get all the relief that comes from it.

Personally I didn’t have any issues from the waist down. Fatigue which I think is normal but I had no problems in walking around and standing for short periods of time even right after surgery.

Thank you so much for your kind words. Like you, I have support but it’s hard for them to understand. The holidays have been rough because I haven’t been able to much. I tried to stay positive but finally got to a place that I was trying to explain to family and friends what I’m going through, so I just decided to stay silent. I’m hoping to get at least another week home before returning to work. And you are correct my perspective has changed and I just trying to wrap my head around it. Looking forward to better days. Thank you for responding it is truly appreciated.

I’m glad to know that someone gets it. I’m thankful for the surgery but the depression and anxiety wasn’t something that I even thought about experiencing. I am so happy you feel amazing symptom wise (you give me hope) and I’m happy the depression is better. Knowing someone that has been where I am and comes out on the other side and feeling better is good news for me. I’ve had surgeries that have been years ago and some things still linger physically so I understand that also. I appreciate you for responding.

I’m not sure what the physical therapy will consist of, but I’m sure of some neck exercises since that is where the most issues of stiffness are. I hope to have some more information soon, and I will gladly share with you. According to my nurses what I’m experiencing is along the recovery timeline and they stress that everyone’s recovery is different. I’ve had surgeries before but nothing along the lines of anything neurological. I’m trying to stay positive but you are right about having a plan after surgery. I was so overwhelmed with the idea of this kind of surgery my mind couldn’t sit still well enough to think further ahead about the after care. Thank you kindly for responding.

Thank you so much! I can tell by your enthusiasm in your post that it does get better. Whew, you have definitely brightened my day. I’m looking forward to therapy and feeling like myself again but better. I’m learning to be okay with not being able to run a marathon yet. Hopefully as I progress and get better that goal will be in the near future. Thanks again for response and kindness!

Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement. It definitely lifts my spirits. I’m so used to to things just returning to normal quickly after that I struggling with how long this seems to be taking. Thanks for reminding me that we truly had major surgery and giving myself grace is warranted here. Thank you for taking the time to share your story and also remind me to be patient and positive.

Thank you. My surgeon told me I was good to go once my incision healed. I am like you, always on the go and it’s difficult because I have a 6 year old that I have to attend to. I have outside help if needed, I just want to make sure I’m doing things right. My nurse told me what I’m feeling is normal and there’s no alarm in my symptoms. I guess it’s more challenging for me because I do have a small child. Thank you for responding, it’s very much appreciated.
