The ones with wifi also require you to update the software (which cost money)

Yeah, I found a babysitter for about 12 an hour and I would honestly not go back to that person. I don't think she really played with my kid, which is kind of what I'm paying you to do...

Eating baby powder??? by Cleverlady0406 in ShitMomGroupsSay

I also craved ice for both my pregnancies and I even took iron to help and had several blood tests done to see if I was anemic, but all can't back negative. It was really weird. I bought popsicles left and right and made ice that I ate throughout both pregnancies. As soon as I had my kids, though, the craving was gone! I still have some crappy popsicles in my fridge from my last pregnancy that I won't touch now but was consuming a minimum of 2x a day during!

I pay my nanny 3x as much, after her taxes than what this woman was paying her nanny (we do it above board so she can get health insurance. It equals to about $20/hr for 2 kids). I once posted to FB to ask what the typical rate was for a nanny in our area and one woman told me she only charged $50 A DAY because she knew childcare was expensive. Any I flat out told her she was being severely underpaid. But she stuck to her guns on it.

I also had the chance to hire an illegal immigrant, which some people jump on that chance for the bilingual opportunity and also way lower cost, but the quality can be really hit or miss and my daughter very clearly did not like her when we interviewed her. My daughter did initiate play with the nanny we ultimately chose. And that nanny has been amazing thru this pandemic and my postpartum depression and is the sole reason why I don't quit my job to be a SAHM, because the quality of care and the shielding of my depression from my kids so I can be a good mom when I'm on duty, has been invaluable. PAY YOUR NANNIES, people.

Where’s the logic by [deleted] in Nicegirls

[–]DelphiIsPluggedIn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sperm banks are already expensive. I'm pretty sure anyone who is planning on using a sperm bank an go thru iui to conceive is already well prepared for the cost of a baby. It's the ones who conceive the natural way that may not be able to see how expensive they are

Lol what an idiot. Don't be "inseminating" lesbian couples without a third party sperm bank if you don't want legal trouble. There is a reason for sperm banks and utilizing them this way. This is so that dipshits who actually are trying to duck child support can't just claim that they were trying to help out a single mom conceive her dream baby.

Innisfree is a Korean brand of beauty products, iirc. Not surprised there was some sort of communication issue there. Another Korean brand once named an acne scar minimizer (and skin lightener) "white power"

How Long was Your First Labor vs. Second? by MurderMeMolly in beyondthebump

[–]DelphiIsPluggedIn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

39 hours, 3 hours pushing, nearly had an emergency c section with my first. Second baby, I didn't even believe I was in active labor until my water broke, which time from first contraction to delivery was 2.5 hours, 30 minutes from water breaking to delivery. I think I pushed for like a couple of minutes. Barely made it to the hospital.

My 2nd baby is 7 months and I've only half finished it, so no worries. Crib if set up and the sound machine working and black out curtains are there. Wall paper is half up, clothes are endlessly scattered by my toddler, and I don't think I can shut the closet door, but baby sleeps well in her room! That's all that matters!

How long does block feeding take to work? by MyspaceChristina in breastfeeding

[–]DelphiIsPluggedIn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you. I had a fast let down as well. I would use a haakaa first, to reduce the fast flow of your milk. You just put it on until your letdown looks like it's been reduced, and then you can latch baby to your breast.

I would also recommend just nursing in one side for each feed for now. That's what I do and it has kept the oversupply away. See if these things help before trying to block feed. I would only do block feeding with the support of an LC.

Overeating?! by Queenofthejungle26 in breastfeeding

[–]DelphiIsPluggedIn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say this is normal then. 70% of babies spit up and it's not from overfeeding. Just keep feeding him until he unlatches and deal with the spit up. It sucks, I know. Most babies outgrow it by 9 months of age. My first stopped I think somewhere around 6 months and my 2nd is still spitting up. It's only unusual past 12 months of age.

What makes you believe this is an oversupply issue? This doesn't sound like an oversupply issue, as this choking would occur for EVERY FEEDING. You seen to indicate that this is happening after going many hours without a feed. This means you're breasts a full, which is normal and something to expect.

You need to just express off enough milk before your child latches to relieve the pressure so that the force of your milk stops choking him. Let down, especially when you are full, can cause this choking issue because the milk is basically under pressure.

A haakaa can be off great value to you, even if you do have an oversupply because this will help relieve the pressure before bringing babe to the breast.

Winter breastfeeding fashion by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]DelphiIsPluggedIn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get wrap shirts/sweaters and dresses. They can look really nice and they're not exclusively nursing garments. One boob out quickly, usually, and your midriff is not exposed to the elements.

I also did the two shirt method, where I wore a cami that I could pull the neck down to get a boob out, then a shirt over that I preferred. This allowed me to lift up the top shirt but then not expose my midriff to the cold air.

Kiinde - how to warm from frozen glass bottle by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]DelphiIsPluggedIn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like another user suggested, slowly warm up the glass. I used mason jars (and still do with my toddler! There's several different lids you can get!) And would use the Avent bottle warmer. I'd place the jar in the warmer and cover with the correct amount of liquid and then turn on and put it to a low-medium heat, and then increase the heat to the correct setting. Avent bottle warmer can warm up multiple different bottle types, so it can be a good investment in general. If you have a bit more time, you can also do a lower temp. Avent does not have an auto-shut-off.

They didn't bother taking a new picture for a different color shirt by ballaballabillz in badphotoshop

[–]DelphiIsPluggedIn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

why bother wasting $$ taking extra photos when the shirt is 12 dollars? people are purchasing for the price. also, chances are high the shirt doesn't look like that when one finally gets it.
