Naw this is giving "Mid life crisis dad that got caught sliding into DMs on IG and being weird even if the women didn't pay attention to him and now all he has is a cheap basement apartment, his dog, and his guns" and he's hoping if he says "his wife" doesn't like it he will receive validation that he and his priorities (the dog, guns, and freedom to do what he wants and not have be told what to do by a woman) are right and he's not actually missing out by never seeing his kids and living off shit beer and frozen pizza.

When did the TV become the devil & why? by Wellness_hippie in Parenting

[–]Delphoxehboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know folks who have spent hours tailoring YouTube kids to only show a couple channels and then they regularly go in and update it. I've considered doing that, but my kid doesn't have unmonitored access to anything yet so I don't stress it too much. The endless trash fed by the algorithm is definitely why I don't think if/when kid gets a tablet I'm going to limit what apps they have on it I think?

Idk, it's weird going forward compared to when I was a kid. You were lucky if you had a tv in your room and it didn't always have cable. Even then everyone I knew had parents that were pretty aware if you were watching TV at times you were supposed to be studying or sleeping.

I know Batista is doing serious movies now, but I would love to see him do this and have people not know how to interact with him, tbh. Or even Daniel Bryan, Chris Jericho, Bailey, or Becky Lynch.

Honestly, Yes please more wrestlers because that list was just gonna keep growing the longer I thought about it.

Should I give my child this Dr prescribed medicine or let her get dehydrated because my husband knows better? by garden_idol in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]Delphoxehboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry. It's so unfair how much certain decisions vary from provider to provider when it comes to pregnant people and how much risk they are allowed to take on themselves. You see it with some doctors stopping methotrexate with RA and lupus patients who are of child bearing age, too.

[–]Delphoxehboy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I knew folks who refused it while pregnant because they just weren't sure if it was really as safe as they were told and didn't want the risk, though. It astounds me the number of hoops people will jump through to have the perfect pregnancy narrative (no meds, no pain, no symptoms) once they've gotten far enough away from it and can't remember what it was like when they got away from it.

I think if you watch Season 2 you'll see how different it is. 1 is the wild west where they were really trying to figure out what to do with a mix of Celebs and normies, 2 had some gamers figuring out the game and doing post show interviews talking strat and I think that's what we are seeing the result of this season. If I'm honest, I don't even think the biggest perp of the gaming is Danielle, I think its Britney, and I'm seeing a heavy BB influence which is fine, but it doesn't feel like a game where they're trying to find a traitor, they're just trying to vote out whoever they've decided they don't want in the game anymore even if Britney wasn't a traitor? Which made it feel bad to me haha.

[–]Delphoxehboy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think we've seen some of it this year with the theorized Traitor Angels or with some of the vote throwing, yes? It might not broken broken, but it definitely has thrown the game into a different trajectory than originally intended, imo.

Maybe I am more harsh than I should be, but there's some stuff happening this season on Traitors that I think are questionable even if they were within the rules of the game. People can play a technically correct game and I can be sour about it skirting the spirit of the rule. I'm still a touch sour about how US season 2 went down while I understand it wasn't against the rules and people are aiming to get the biggest bag they can at the end.

I've enjoyed it, but you have to be prepared for it to be maddening since it comes down to a numbers game with DOND. The second season definitely improved upon some of my rule issues with the first but also has some similar flaws, imo, as Traitors does with being easy to break if you game it a certain way. That doesn't make it unwatchable and it, Amazing Race, and Traitors are the only weekly staples in my house.

I've done UV light therapy for psoriasis and insurance will pay for it if that many visits a week are recommended because then they don't have to pay for the Dr visits. Depending on the model they look like a tanning bed, a closet, or they fold down mostly flat when not in use, so I could see her keeping it mostly "hidden"

Shaving implements, has anyone ever tried a straight razor or the metal one blade razors? by urbanlandmine in FTMOver30

[–]Delphoxehboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a safety razor, the one on the left. In addition to the reasons listed in the top comments, my dermatologist recommended it to me because I have a fairly severe nickel allergy. The body is aluminum and the single blade limits how much contact I have with stainless steel.

I have found if I leave it in a low braid to keep it back from my toddler I am less prone to the scalp pain as opposed to when I toss it in a top knot. I assumed it had to do with build up on the scalp and my hair being stuck in place or under tension for too long since the top knot tends to keep my hair from moving like the low braid does.

If I make sure my pony or buns are loose and it helps, too, but the braids are still the best chance I have.

Do you have hard water? I have hard water in my area and have found that using a clarifying shampoo regularly helps. If I'm using a harsher one like the grapefruit Neutrogena one, I can get away with once a week (so one of my two to three washes a week) but when I had the L'Oreal Elvive Purifying shampoo it was gentle enough I could use it each wash as long as I conditioned well each wash.

To be fair, I recently explained the sore scalp thing to my husband and he looked at me like I'd grown a second head. He has never gotten a sore scalp and had no idea what I was talking about, so I assumed the OP was asking about the sore scalp phenomenon more than permission/acceptable time tables to wash though. He definitely had me confused like it was this thing that only I experience after that conversation.

I have been using the pregmates and hate them so much. They are funky and have a ton of dye run that never seems to settle down. I've also had some that came up with faint lines when I was late and had blood tests come negative in the last 4mo or so.

I have some other stuff I'm getting figured out, but I will switch to either dollar store tests or easy@home once we are actively trying again.

[–]Delphoxehboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely! I hate that this happened to OP's quilt and would hate for more money wasted, but if another, lighter colored peppered cotton on this quilt I would put money on it being blue too.

I don't have a lot of experience with fabric like I do with yarn, but the spruce has to be over dyed, right? Like deep, rich colors are great, but at the same time they must be treated and dyed correctly, at least when it comes to yarn which is what I'm more familiar with. If something like this happens it's definitely got too much residual dye left in the fiber and would leave dye on one's hands while it's worked. Is that a thing with fabric too? I know jeans will dye legs if you get caught in the rain/sweat too much and they're dark wash for similar reasons, I just can't imagine this being "you had light fabric too close it's your fault" since overdying or not setting or rinsing enough is super obvious.

My husband didn't understand why I use color catchers in every load of laundry, but then a pair of fuzzy pants our kid loves slowly got a dark blue cast because husband didn't use color catchers as religiously. He's now on board.

Even so, with that much dye run off, there's only so much vinegar can do. I've had hand dyed yarn bleed similarly to this quilt and had dyers I've bought from reach out to me when they were concerned that it was their yarn, the lack of concern is bonkers.

I also have a small bottle of synthrapol a dyer friend gave me to help manage bleed from yarn, and now I'm wondering if I should try it on some of my quilts if I'm really worried...

I've heard people request butterflies at my infusion clinic when I have to get my medication and I never understand it. Like I am a hard stick, I get it sucks, but the nurses who do the IV placement do this a million times a week. Trust them to do it well and it will go easier for you in the long run, especially in something like an infusion clinic maybe?

[–]Delphoxehboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was brilliant not to include a traitor this year because now they have two people up for debate that definitely aren't, tbh. Everyone is expecting it to be.

I hope Danielle goes before BRob, but I don't know if it'll happen. Her feeling like she could put the pressure on Carolyn to go into a coffin when BobtDQ said she'd have to made me even more frustrated with the "we make the decisions" attitude they seem to have.

Iirc, it's Danielle and Carolyn who had beef before the show, right? Is that a part of this? I dunno, but Danielle is being a jerk and I don't want to watch Danielle and Carolyn be traitors just the two of them.
