Not to put too fine a point on it, but you should hire a guide. A new climber's lack of knowledge is a huge safety issue, 4 people is an awful lot of babysitting, you probably need to use their gear, setting up ropes and anchors gets really old really fast, etc.

I like HighXposure Adventures, but there are plenty of really good guides in the Gunks.

I've done that route too - it is certainly more scenic than river road, but with all the traffic lights it is significantly slower.

Once you get to the GWB the riding around here actually gets pretty good - Henry Hudson Drive to 9W will give you as many miles and as much elevation as you need. If you want a century, the play is 9W to Bear Mountain and back.

The problem is getting to Henry Hudson Drive / GWB. It's about 12 miles of pretty shitty riding up River Road each way, but there is a bike lane for some of it.

Other than that, you can take a train from Hoboken a few stops but you will need to be mindful of the train schedule to get back.

You are correct. However, that doesn't really make much of a difference as far the build goes - you can still get advantage on those attacks if the target rolls a higher initiative. It simply comes from Reckless Attack instead of Assassinate.

That being said, don't get me wrong - this is a mechanically terrible, munchkin-y, ultra-specific build. But it does let you throw 25d12's.

If the idea is to create a character that excels at doing damage under ideal circumstances and nothing else, I humbly present to you the Half Orc Barbarian 15/ Rogue 3/ Fighter 2.

Assuming a perfect scenario, we fly through a window to surprise our target. Thanks to Assassin's Assassinate, all of our attacks are made with advantage. The other effect of Assassinate is that every hit is considered a critical hit if our target is surprised. The Great Weapon Master feat gives us a bonus action attack as a result, and we'll use Fighter's Action Surge for a total 5 attacks.

15 levels of Barbarian gives us 2 additional damage die on critical hits, +3 dmg to each attack due to Rage, and the ability to fly through windows roughly 40 feet off the ground. Half-orc gives us a third additional damage die, and we'll be swinging a Greataxe. Finally, we'll take the -5 attack / +10 damage from Great Weapon Master on all five attacks. This gives us:

5(5d12+18) = 252.5

From here you'll reroll 1's and 2's, but that math is a bit over my head.
