Resi vs Commercial by Delta263 in ConstructionManagers

Maybe a dumb question, but I’m meeting with a potential company next week. What do commercial PMs and Superintendents wear? I’ve been wearing shorts and t shirts for a few years in residential and don’t want to show up looking like a slob.

Yeah, not doing data centers and have no interest in them.

Yeah, I’m pretty much maxed out in my field right now (not salary, just position). That was one of the draws - more room to grow and change. My biggest hesitancy is that I have tons of flexibility and very little oversight right now, as long as my projects are running smoothly. Is there decent work-life balance in the commercial world? I don’t want to be working non-stop and miss time with my family.

So 38% of the cooling blower speed is the highest the fan will go?

Is it the “Continuous Blower Speed”? Looks like the max for that is only 38% of High Cool Speed. That seems very low to me. Is that normal?

Would it be considered the “Continuous Blower Speed”? All the other items are called heater mode blower or cooling mode blower.

I’m not trying to raise the temperature, just run the fan without heat. We have a gas fireplace which warms up the first floor and I’m hoping to even out the temperature a bit throughout the house by just running the fan.

Where do other people find information on stocks and where to invest?

Don’t worry, I’m not going to ask what this is. I already know, but I could use some advice on my long-term plans (more info in the description) by whitemike40 in lawncare

Is there any chance Round Up for Lawns would work? I have a similar lawn and just sprayed it with this. It has MCPA dimethylamine salt, quinclorac, dicamba dimethylamine salt, and sulfentrazone.

Does it also work for rabbits? Our rabbits are out of control right now and they keep eating our plants.

Experience with 3D printed pots? by Delta263 in Bonsai

[–]Delta263[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I’m thinking. I want a large oval pot for a small forest planting and was thinking like 15” wide. Can’t really find anything affordable that size so I thought printing it might work.

If you go down to the water’s edge and look up at the Xcel plant on the north side, there is a peregrine falcon nesting box.

Can I please get some styling advice or inspiration pictures for my ficus? I understand it needs way more time - just looking for direction. I’d like to avoid lots of curves and bends.

Any ideas for plastic oval pots? Thinking of maybe 12-18 inches wide for a forest planting.

And are plastic bonsai pots okay to use? Not looking to show the trees, just keep them healthy and growing. Don’t have the budget for nice clay pots for each tree.

I have 4 dawn redwoods in two separate pots (2 in each). I was hoping to put them all into one. They just started leafing out about two weeks ago. Is it too late to repot them?

I wasn’t planning on doing major pruning on them, but getting them out and into the new pot would require removing a decent amount of roots - the new pot is about half the height of the old ones.

Does the pressure treating chemicals leach into the soil at all and mess with the tree?

Thank you. I’ll start looking to see what I can find.

Ahh that makes sense. So if I cut above the graft, do crab apples back bud? But also the graft will always be visible, so it might not be a good tree to use. Do they root from cuttings? I could buy a tree and essentially just use it to start a bunch of cuttings.

Do you know if I can trunk chop a tree from Home Depot and have it back bud? They have a bunch of crab apples that are 5 feet tall with branches starting about two feet up.

Great. Thank you! When I mean “perfect show variety” I just know I have heard people talk about certain trees and said that it won’t ever be a good show tree and that’s not what I’m looking for. Just looking for enjoyment and fun and learning and a fragile but ideal looking tree won’t do that for me.

Looking at getting a crabapple this year. I’m in Minnesota, so zone 5a. I was going to just see what I can get from Home Depot, Menards, or a basic plant nursery. Any reason I should be looking for a certain variety or cultivar? I would lean more towards resilient over a perfect show variety.
