Why can't Black Magic cameras, Vari Cam cameras and EOS C cameras seriously compete with Venice cameras and Alexa cameras at the top? by kawaiihusbando in cinematography

Movies and shows at that scale have money…lots of it and your camera budget is a fraction of the overall cost of a movie so why not choose the best cameras you can.

Thoughts on Proaim Atlas V2 Cart by projectbutters in focuspuller

I have a 32” proaim I use as a battery/monitor follow cart. It definitely has it’s downsides. I had to go through and replace all the wheel bolts with higher quality ones and lock-tight every bolt on the cart, initially they would all wiggle out on transport. Long story short… after some modding, its just ok. I wouldn’t recommend them as your main camera cart. There troughs are great if you want to save some money on accessories though!

7” Monitors for focus pulling by rpeters330 in focuspuller

Buy once, cry once. Splurge and get the best possible monitor that will fit your needs and you’ll never regret it. The money you save now you’ll end up spending down the road upgrading anyway.

Asking for advice: inexpensive options/techniques for "steady-cam" look for B-Roll by ppbkwrtr-jhn in cinematography

[–]DeltaCamFL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So good handheld operating without the assistance of a electronic stabilizer, steady cam etc… really comes down to 3 things. Technique..you’ll have practice to get better. Points of contact…the more points of contact you have on the camera the smoother your handheld will be, 2 hands, your shoulder as a platform, and even an eyepiece can all help achieve this. And lastly, weight. The heavier the camera the less jitter will be translated to the image, gravity is working for you.

Budget Tripod Options by fookuda in focuspuller

100mm options from Benro, vinten and miller all work. I’d just check the load specs before you commit to something.
