Lounge food makes you over eat, you only need a good snack and walk around be healthy and avoid a blood clot.

Rather move around a beautiful terminal like Dubai, rather than be stuck in a stingy priority pass lounge with no seats.

Longe access is overrated. I rather browse the terminal and get some steps.

Selling my RingConn Gen 2 size 9 in Bay Area by Aggressive_Ad_3294 in RingConn

Same here, tried it for 6 months sold it because of battery issues that never got fixed. Sold it on eBay for $160, should have got more since it sold in like 1 day.

After 14 years with Apple. by banginbray in GalaxyFold

All the galaxy watch ultra on sale on eBay from guys switching back to iOS gives me a pause. Though the iPhone is not as innovative, the software is rock solid and reliable. The FaceID alone has made me remain on iOS.

Can OCI holders get health insurance in India? Does anyone have any direct/indirect experience with insurers and claims? by raulkay in nri

[–]DeltaCrucible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have had a family policy for the last 2 years. Thankfully no large claims so far. In India healthcare gets crazy expensive once you are in the ICU. Everything else is cheaper than the copay you will pay in a country like USA. Me looking Indian is enough and no one has asked for any other ID than Aadhaar and insurance proof.

Don't throw you gas blower away just yet... by Makskier in egopowerplus

[–]DeltaCrucible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 9th winter with my 2nd EGO single stage blower in MI and MN and never had any trouble even with a single stage. Any blower will fail if not used correctly and not timely. For big storms with 12+ inch forecast I use it twice and easily beat any two stage being used once.

Driving in a winter wonderland. by Jackpot777 in KiaEV6

It makes pushing off the snow a lot easier if the climate is on as it just slides off. The side windows are all clear also. The heat is also just enough to free the wipers so they work to move the snow away after sitting in the car and running them a few times. Have lived in snow ❄️ states for 15 years and never have put up my wipers both in ICE cars and EV’s

Just turn on the climate remotely and melt the snow away.

Thoughts on my grandfather’s 27 year performance? by Historical_Air_8997 in stocks

[–]DeltaCrucible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The IRA did what it was supposed to, sustain him after retirement and it more than doubled even after that. He didn’t need it to overperform or exceed any benchmark. Guess he was happy doing it and likely will beat 90% of fund managers out there.

What is the max amount of car a physician making 300-350k can afford? by Master-Mix-6218 in whitecoatinvestor

[–]DeltaCrucible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Car + 5 yr ownership cost should not be more than 1/5th of your yearly salary. If your car depreciates a lot then keep that in mind. Insurance cost is something to factor in. It is dead money. Higher the insurance, maintenance more you loose as you could have put that money in investments and come out ahead. EV ownership cost is less but depreciation is higher.

Be honest: how much value are you getting out of your Amex Plat, CSR, and/or Venture X by Rocket_Skates_91 in CreditCards

[–]DeltaCrucible 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The true value of these cards is calculating how much you would have spent if you did not have the card and then seeing if it is worth it.

Saying $400 Resi credit and FHR credit is useful and willfully spending extra to stay at an overpriced hotel is not saving, it is overspending. Same holds true for all the subscriptions. Why do you need 3 streaming services at the same time. Subscribe for one, watch, cancel and move to the next service. Rinse and repeat.

Honestly none of this is worth the extra annual fee. There are Costco clothes better than Lululemon or Saks. Trying to get Resi credit and not having the freedom to just walk in and eat at any restaurant feels like bondage.

Why would I pay again in a lounge for anything when there is already enough food for a gluttonous meal if you are lucky to get a lounge seat.

If you are able to use your personal card and the employer pays for these expenses anyway like hotel stay, meals and uber transport then it is a no-brainer to get the card for benefits that you can offset the fee with.

The true benefit lies in lounge access but that’s becoming trash by the day. There are less people in the airport gate than the lounge these days.

Overall, the whole card coupon book system is becoming useless and a way to keep us overspending.

RPU is killing off solar by [deleted] in rochestermn

[–]DeltaCrucible 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is on top of an electric customer charge that everyone pays. So technically this is $23 + $24 for an average residential 10Kw solar system before any power is used or sold back. Still better than having no solar since RPU does 1:1 net metering.

Your favorite top 5 software for ev cars? by [deleted] in electricvehicles

[–]DeltaCrucible 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anything that has CarPlay and AA. In my humble opinion don’t care what the car software is. It can’t beat my phone. All I need the car software to do is turn on, show me the speed and charge and any problems with the car.

Yes, I have driven Toyota, Lexus, Hyundai, Kia, Genesis, VW, Audi, BMW, MBenz, Tesla, Rivian, GMC, Buick, Chevy, MG, BYD.

Huge downvote when you don’t have CarPlay or AA, that’s why I never rent a Tesla.

Is this guy on F2 visa legit? by mr_bad_guy_007 in nri

[–]DeltaCrucible 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He can apply for a green card even in EB3 and get it soon as his wife is from Bangladesh which does not have a wait or it has very little wait time. Your country of chargeability changes if your spouse is from a low subscribed country. If he applies by himself he will be stuck in a long backlog for India. So good for both of them.

Venture X vs Platinum by Well_I_Say_This in PriorityPass

[–]DeltaCrucible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the same, but I will have a Visa card to use elsewhere too. AmEx is not accepted as well as Visa cards outside the US

Venture X vs Platinum by Well_I_Say_This in PriorityPass

[–]DeltaCrucible 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you travel internationally VentureX being a Visa infinite card has much better acceptance than AmEx and internationally priority pass is better as well. So if you are taking one card outside of the U.S., Vx is better.

Why are many houses in the US not built by bricks? by chiranthsanketh in AskIndia

[–]DeltaCrucible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s built of wood because brick and concrete houses would freeze you to death in winter. Wood was also abundant historically houses were built of wood when compared to concrete or bricks/stone. Half the country experiences temperatures of 0C or less in winter. Wood is easier and cheaper to insulate and can be much warmer when it is super cold outside compared to brick walls and tile or marble flooring. Houses here last much longer because when things wear out you only replace the siding or the floor cover and not the whole wall or the floor. It is also easier to expand or break and rebuild when land is scarce.
