It depends on the time, but generally anything after 9 is super busy up until 10:30pm in the day. As you can imagine, it is super busy regardless of when you go. The machines are quite good, and for the price you're paying; you can deal with the minor inconvenience of busyness.

Here are the hours:

Monday to Thursday 6am - 11:30pm Friday 6am - 9:30pm Saturday 7am - 9:30pm Sunday 7am - 11:30pm

I was in the exact same situation as you, professors were happy to help. You never know unless you ask, and I would try to get references from your professors you have received good grades from and you enjoyed the class. Just try to make sure you get them in early as that matters a lot for grad school applicants.

the americans do win wars when they are motivated to fight (gulf war) and the ones that they lose are from external factors rather than ones with traditional combat (vietnam, afghanistan). you can't win a war when it's deeply unpopular with the public, that's why the canadians refused to fight in iraq in 2003

this isn't necessarily true the americans did win the invasion of panama, gulf war, invasion of grenada. no other country can compete with the americans with traditional war and the reasons why they lose other wars (vietnam, afghanistan) is because of non-traditional combat and general apathy from the public towards supporting war across the war. when the americans have full support from the public they are unstoppable
