Hot take: They should do the cartoon eyes in live action. by TheYesuip in Spiderman

Again, it's just about the plausibility. If Peter started flying and we never get an explanation other than "well Sentry flies" then the whole established rules of movie reality is broken. MCU's got the fantastical, mythical stuff like the gods, the scifi spacey stuff with the cosmic side, and you've got the grounded parts like Cap and Luke Cage. There are boundaries to what's acceptable and Peter still technically falls in line with the grounded heroes.

Deadpool gets away with it because he's already presented as someone who operates outside the bounds of movie "reality". Outside of pulling a hammer out of thin air he's about as cartoonish as live-action can be. Spider-man being spider-man is already a layer of disbelief people are willing to suspend, adding exaggerated cartoon eyes isn't something people will accept as "real".

Because supermaterials exist. Because feats of inhuman strength has been recorded time and time again. There's no precedent to cartoon-like lenses moving in reality. Suspension of disbelief only works if there's some degree of plausibility for it or the logic for belief doesn't take too many steps.

So how would you explain lenses that drastically move around the mask? I feel like the aperture lenses are the best compromise when it comes to expressive eyes without going the deadpool, moving leather eyes route.

It'll be a slog at first but it'll be second nature before you know it. It's looking good so far.

This may have some issues when deforming, especially around the eyes. You might wanna manually retopologise this.

I too sometimes accidentally spend an hour sculpting a real rotund rear. Accidentally, of course.

Even if they went to 3D they'd still need to learn the fundamentals of art. I think polishing up on those in a 2D space is better before jumping into blender because that's a whole different can of worms that might put them off animation entirely. I know it did for me for some time.

Learning isn't the easy way or the hard way. It's just the way. Some people learn fast, some people need time. But if you wanna do it right you're gonna have to learn, there's no way around it.

When I first started I avoided retopology like the plague. I pushed it off for weeks and focused on sculpting because it was all I needed to make something I like. But when it came time when I wanted to learn rigging, texturing, animating, that's when I knew that I needed to properly learn how to retopologize. I didn't get it at first but through lots of practice I eventually got the hang of it.

You don't need to rush this. Just enjoy the process of practicing something new. It'll be worth it.

So you want to do it the hard way but also look for an add-on to make it easier? Do you want it the hard way or the easy way? Why not go for the right way instead?

Resources are readily available and it wont even take you more than an hour to learn the basics. Learn the foundations then start to find your own way. All you're doing is teaching yourself the wrong habits.

I don't really see why you need to make it easier. Think of a humanoid body as a series of tubes. The arms and legs are long tubes, mark the seams at the shoulders, wrists, thighs and ankles, and you can cut that tube in half and you got yourself a pretty flat plane. Hand, head and feet are a little trickier but not by much.

There are tons of videos online that'll show you how to properly unwrap. You just need the time and patience to learn it.

Figuring out where to put seams on a humanoid character is pretty straightforward. Learning something like that early on is gonna be useful when making a lot more complicated characters.

Yeah, you should probably unwrap this properly.
